I’m surprised that thousands of Floridians weren’t clinging to the sides of those planes while they were on the runway in Florida. It’s just sad that we were only able to save so few. :(

reports I'm seeing in Sacramento, is Abbott did the same and chartered a plane to Sacramento and dumped off illegal immigrants too. Haven't seen anything on the news but some posts of facebook.

Well, the Martha's Vineyard dump has been generating lots of headlines for the past couple of days. I'm pleased that the people of MV welcomed the migrants with kindness and support, and they're now being relocated to better housing on a military base on the Cape. It's all been very humane and compassionate and the newcomers are being treated with dignity.

I imagine that would wear thin quickly if planeloads started landing unannounced every couple of days. Mass. is a rich state and the treasury is overflowing, but housing -- especially affordable housing -- is in short supply already.

CNN, 09/15
Texas' governor says his state intentionally sent two buses of migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris' residence in the nation's capital -- resulting in a Thursday morning arrival that surprised volunteers who said they weren't prepared to receive them at that site.

The drop-off temporarily left dozens of migrants -- some of them carrying belongings in trash bags -- standing on sidewalks and grass Thursday morning outside the gated US Naval Observatory in Washington while volunteers scrambled to make arrangements for them.
...
Since Abbott started sending buses of migrants to Washington in April, those buses usually have stopped around Union Station, and volunteers were prepared to receive two buses Thursday at the station, they said.

Any numbers on what percentage of migrants these turd stunts represent? Less than .01%? And cost per migrant?

Well, here in Chicago, the mayor loved to tout the fact that Chicago is a sanctuary city and said any migrants or illegals would be welcomed with open arms and treated with dignity. She practically begged Texas to send migrants. Then they did. And then she cried foul about Texas sending a whopping 300 migrants without any advanced notice.
Ya know....like the advanced notice Texas gets.
She said it was inhumane to just ship them off across the country to a strange city.
So what did she do when they arrived?
Welcome them with open arms?
Nope. She shipped a bunch of them off to different strange cities, specifically a couple of Chicago suburbs.
And of course, she gave those suburbs no advanced notice they were coming.......lol.

I guess it's not a problem until it's your problem.......

But really.

The immigrants are indeed actually tracked.
Texas gets federal border-state money for this.
That a bus can be tracked is relevant?
Is this not human trafficking?
And also, wasn’t this JB’s call - and your just pinning it on Lightfoot?

If the immigrants are tracked, then it should have been known in advance that they were being sent to sanctuary cities.
All of the places they are being bused or flown to are acting shocked that it's actually happening. Once you declare yourself a welcoming or sanctuary city or state, it's on you to have the resources at hand to deal with them.
And what was JB's call? Declaring Illinois a sanctuary state? Sure, but Lightfeet glommed onto it when it was passed.
Last I heard, Lightfeet is the mayor of Chicago, not JB.
That Chicago was/is not equipped to deal with the incoming immigrants is on her.

And what does any of this have to do with the pure hypocrisy of how the sanctuary cities are actually dealing with the "crisis" of having to support the very people they said they were ready and willing to help?
Chicago ships them elsewhere.
New York creates a new department to deal with the "crisis".

Doesnt it strike any of you that these places talked the talk when they didnt have to deal with it, but are completely unprepared when they do?
Stupid fucking comments are all you have?

IMO what's disingenuous of your outrage is that you seem to be hyper-pissed at people (politicians, or those that support their rhetoric - LL or OO) that said they would help but seemingly didn't/ couldn't/ failed vs. the bullshit assholes that don't even give a shit in the first place (TX or FL).

So yeah, it's regretable that the mayor of Chicago didn't have in place the resources to handle this random influx of immigrants shipped by Florida's Governor from the border lands of Texas... Not that these are the only immigrants to 'land' in Chicago, but they sure as hell are the ones you are focused on. Why? Well because another politician has used them as pawns. It's pretty clear to everyone and yet you just pass right by THAT part of the story and condemn LL for the whole thing.

What in my original post makes you think I was outraged?
I was pointing out the hypocrisy of giving press conferences and making statements that your city is ready and willing to welcome all immigrants and migrants, and how the cities and states that bear the brunt of the immigrants and migrants are just heartless pieces of shit for not being prepared to give them all housing and food and clothes, and then a year later being shocked that those same cities and states dare send migrants and immigrants to their cities.

Chicago cant handle their own existing issues in an effective way, so maybe they shouldnt be making declarations and promises they're not prepared to take on.

It isn't hypocrisy. Those places aren't shocked because they have to help them. They are shocked because leaders are shipping humans to other places like cattle to make cheap political points. What isn't shocking is that you as usual missed the issue with the whole thing and reflexively jumped to mock the people actually helping these folks.
Chicago cant handle their own existing issues in an effective way, so maybe they shouldnt be making declarations and promises they're not prepared to take on.

The use of human beings as tools for a political stunt is dehumanizing and horrid. But it's also setting a dangerous new level in partisan pettiness. What's next? A republican led state refuses to send help during a real crisis to a democratic stronghold within its borders because of their party affiliation and/or some perceived slight?

This is an awful act. Immigrants normally end up being dispersed through legal means to other parts of the country as they oftentimes have relatives/friends in many areas of the United States. And any "border crisis" there may be (beyond the one that is being inflated by the Trump-ettes like Abbot and DeSantis of course) can be traced to Trump's Remain in Mexico policy that screwed with the normal process and created an enormous backlog in Mexican border states.

At the end of the day, this is pure political theater and it is loathsome and vile. If you can't see that, then you're part of the problem.

I remember that Palm Springs used to round up homeless people and bus them like 50 miles away. They would usually return by the next day for rinse and repeat. Have no idea if this is still happening.

AP News
Texas has bused about 8,000 migrants to Washington since April, including more than 100 Thursday to Vice President Kamala Harris’ home. It also has bused about 2,200 to New York and 300 to Chicago.

Arizona has bused more than 1,800 migrants to Washington since May, but has kept officials on the receiving end informed of the plans. The city of El Paso, Texas, has sent at least 1,135 migrants on 28 buses to New York since Aug. 23 and, like Arizona, shares passenger rosters and other information.
...
A contractor that Texas hired to bus migrants signed an agreement that prohibits them from talking to New York officials, Castro said.
The cruelty is the point.

I'm not saying the Dems have put together a great immigration solution either. But we also have way bigger fish to fry. You have one major political party literally attacking election integrity and determined to destroy American democracy and establish minority authoritarian rule. You've got a major healthcare crisis in this country, now exacerbated by the fact that millions of women's lives have been put in danger with the overturning of Roe v Wade. The immigration problem pales in comparison.

Immigration wasn't even in the headlines until DeSantis pulled his stunt. It was an obvious ploy to get it in the news, and then get people riled up about it going into midterms. He succeeded, because here we are arguing about an issue nobody gave two shits about it three weeks ago.

And this won't be the last "zombie issue" that rises from the grave out of nowhere before midterms. The right will find some other cockamamie thing to get their base frothing at the mouth about. Woke Disney, gay airline pilots, Asians playing basketball, who knows.

You still can’t grasp that there may be no solution, but that doesn’t justify treating these people like garbage? In spite of what DeSantis wants you to believe, there is ample evidence these people were actually not informed about what was going to happen to them.

How does using frightened immigrants this way solve anything? Do you think the best way to solve school shootings is to shoot more children too?
