Post by Daehawk »

So along with the Mach 1, GT, Bullitt and such comes the Dark Horse. I like it.

What do you guys think of that new all screen dash? I think its about time cars changed. It looks more futuristic.

Physical controls are better for most dash functions is what I think...

The dash on my Volvo is fully digital. The display changes a bit depending on which drive mode you're in.

Same. My 2019 Mustang GT dash was all digital and it was really nice. Being able to put it in race mode when going to the track was really handy, not to mention being able to customize gauge readouts.

Dash display is fine, but if one has to go through multiple menus to do what a single button push (which muscle memory could handle fine w/o taking one's eyes off the road) did with analog controls, there's a problem.

The only buttons I'm used to on my dash have been for resetting the trip odometer or updating the clock. If you're talking about entire consoles going digital that's a different thing (there's definitely some menu digging on the touch screen console).

Most every digital dash car still has most of the relevant buttons/dials on the steering wheel. Music selection is probably the biggest offender there, mechanical Spotify controls would be interesting. I guess that what voice is for. I generally just pick my playlist before putting it in drive. For the most part, I am only ever using the mechanical controls while driving.

What do you mean by ‘dash’ here?
I’m familiar with the term being the grouping of meters and warning/status lights. And those turning into a digital version of those meters and statuses.

You’re changing the conversation over to what I would call the console.

Edit: sorry just caught up. I’ll shoosh
