Early reports are coming in that an earthquake struck southern Turkey and might be measured out as much as a 7.8 (the article below claims it at 7.7). There is word that major structures may have collapsed and I saw some video of people trapped in the rubble. Awful stuff.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and had an epicenter near the town of Gaziantep, according to a report from GFZ Helmholtz Centre Potsdam.
The earthquake was about 30 kilometers west northwest of Gaziantep, and 114 kilometers north-northwest of Aleppo, Syria, according to EMSC-CSEM.
Ive always wondered if an earthquake is worse right above it or out from it. Id think out from it but then again maybe not.
