Curved swords are better for slashing

Origin
On Gone Gold, McNutt asked if there is a reason that curved swords came to be and what purpose they served that a straight sword couldn't fulfill. The answer came back repeatedly that, of course, curved swords are better for slashing. It is now used as a reference to the obvious or is just thrown in as general banter.
