The Tiny Epic guys are coming after your dino eggs. They just announced Tiny Epic Dinosaurs coming to Kickstarter tomorrow.

The artwork looks adorable. I'll probably buy a copy.

I mean, it regularly sells for about $100 on the 2nd hand market so you gave it away.

As long as it eventually gets into the hands of someone that will appreciate it, I don't really care about the money. I am looking at losing around $200 on resale of Gotham City Chronicles, that one hurts a little more, but apparently not enough to change my behavior.

BTW, there was a copy of Dinogenics in the library at SHUX last weekend, and it seemed to be checked out pretty regularly. The buzz is real!

That is exciting to hear. That was literally my last unopened copy of the game from the first print run. I was a little reluctant to ship it but glad to hear it got some exposure!

I have never used their virtual flea market, but wouldn't you still have to ship it when you sold it on there?

No. The VFM is for people attending the convention. The sales are made ahead of time and then we all meet in a big room and have an hour to make all of the exchanges.

Yeah, that actually kind of sounds worse than taking a box with pre-printed postage to the post office...

He’s going to be at the location that day. And he usually suckers me into helping.

So all he has to do is load and unload the car.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I just have to say, seeing DinoGenics make it's way onto a number of fairly highly profile top 10 lists for the year feels amazing.

I’m just curious - is there any chance to get another game added to my order? I’ve got a friend who is going on nerd boat that had been diagnosed with cancer and I’d love to get him a copy as a get well gift. I know the pledge manager is locked, but if there is anything you can do being the scenes is really appreciate it!

If you are in the US possibly, international orders are definitely on lock-down though. Send me a private message.

Just noticed that DinoGenics was ranked #10 in The Dice Tower's Top 10 Productions of 2019:

Since most people are stuck at home right now I thought I would remind people that I've made DinoGenics available to play on both Tabletopia and Tabletop Simulator. The TTS version if fully scripted and does all the heavy lifting for you. The TT version is good if you want to try out a couple of the single player scenarios.

And thank you for that! I played Tabletop Simulator with friends over the weekend and I really appreciated being able to play Dinogenics!

DinoGenics board game

Post by Zarathud »

Received my copy today happily.

But I have a feeling the packing of those Ammonites and Corrupted Dinos is going to be a nightmare. 2/5 of the Corrupted Dinos were broken — both in the back legs but one was broken in half.

There was no tape, no Ammonites in the box. Triple checked and kept the wrapping. If you need anything to help with the shipper/manufacturer let me know. I can prepare my own affidavit, if needed.

In the meantime, looking forward to reading the rules and finding a way to fit everything in the main box!

Did anyone come out with an (un)official organizer?

Oh no! Please send a photo of the damage to info@ninthhaven.com. I will make sure you get replacements. There have been a few issues with shipping this time around. As much as we pay for their service, it's not making me terribly happy.

There is a really good organizer for the base game but it wont fit the expansion. Nice guy, I gave him my blessing to sell his insert here.

The only way to fit the expansion in the main box is to ditch all the inserts and bag everything. It is a really tight fit though and I wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks, I'll send the photos. If I can help get you the proof you need to get satisfaction from the shipping service, let me know.

Challenge accepted. I can get it to fit in the main box (no custom coins). I'll post photos tomorrow. You're right that it's a very tight fit. The key was putting the manipulation cards into one of the long trays and stacking all of the facility/water tiles in rows. The player items sit on top of the boards in the little space between the boards.

A custom insert could fit it all (except likely metal coins) using a solution similar to Go7 Gaming's insert for Everdell (EVER-001).

How it fits (barely):

Barely any lid lift, at most 1/2 of the original rules on top.
Image
Player packages go on top in the space besides the player boards.
Image
Main island board keeps the meeples below secure.
Image
Special dinos and scenario cards in bags on top, with the tokens bagged separately.
Image
Facility and water tiles squeeze into the long sections, and people with the goats.
Image
Manipulation cards at the bottom, with the dinos mixed together.
Image
Corrupted T-Rex miniatures not included.

I'm impressed! But can it fit sleeved cards? Because there are a lot of people who will freak out if it doesn't!

Zero chance it can fit sleeved cards without warping time and space. The card stacks are 1.5 inches, 1 inch, 7/8 inch and 1/2 inch without sleeves. How thick of a sleeve are people using?

I don't know the dimensions of the coins, but I'm pretty sure those also larger than the punched money.

But if you're in sleeving and coins, my bet is that you're also keeping the expansion box because that's how your set is complete.

Sir, you are an inspiration. Controlled Chaos arrived this morning, and following your example (with some variation here and there) I've squeezed it all into the original box. Maybe 1/8" of lid lift. It will be a bit of a pain to put away after playing, but with shelf space at a premium in my apartment, the trade-off is worth it.

So satisfying. Almost as satisfying as applying that upgrade kit sticker to the board!
