This inspired me to look. There is a Civ VI platinum for $119 through a few platforms. As I paid $60 for Civ VI, that's nowhere near ever happening. I should just wait for VII to release. Get VI on special and just stay seven years behind on these games.

I'm playing my longest playthru with the zombies. It's about 300AD and they're at strength 67.
I can't take them on one on one. I need 3-4 units to take them down. My civilization is way behind my normal playthru. From what I can see the other civs are hollowed out cities. The zombies can't destroy them but they can leave cities at 0 hitpoints and 1 population. City states are all but gone. I lose most of my army protecting the last three on my continent.
I'm using no limit VPs from barbarians mod and all my units are like level 4-7, if they survive. Not really sure if this game is winnable.
But it is more interesting and fun than most of my games.

This is exactly why Zombie mode is pretty cool. Nice game. Hope you win it.

I've not found zombies to be more than an annoyance. They go well with the barbarian clans option, because there are less spawning barbies throughout the game, but the zombies always come. Also, when encountering zombies in other's lands, let them be. Unlike barbarians that gave you some benefit for destroying them, zombies are just busy work and you might as well let others be busy with them if you can.

I am playing deity and the longer the game goes the stronger the zombies get. I've just got infantry and the zombies are at strength 72. Lost another city state, only two more left. Have reconned the ocean but the other continent has dozens of zombies along the coast as well as plenty of barbarians. Altho a lot the barbarians, they are easy to kill. The other civs are nothing.

Zombies are now 82. Altho I have tanks the best way to take care of the zombies is to make all my units corps and armies. Be glad when I can research bombers. Can't expand my empire and only have like six cites. Have to keep army units around the cities as the damn zombies spawn around them from time to time.

Zombies? I did not know this was a thing in CivVI. I am intrigued.

I started a new game on the Huge Earth map and was randomly assigned the Mayans - turns out I'm the only civ in the new world and have all of North and South America to settle before dealing with the other civs who are all busy fighting over the old world.

I think I'll probably win this game.

It's.....less interesting than one would think. Dbt is likely going to win that game in a cakewalk solely because the computer players respond so poorly to zombies. While it's bad for his civilization, the computer players can't seem to handle a lot of the new modes at all.

I spent a significant amount of my covid gaming time with civ VI and there's plenty there to keep you occupied, but in the end....if I can make it to city walls I'm pretty sure I'm going to win.

After 30 years of playing this, I think I need a new drug.

Sounds a bit like the Armageddon mode for Warlock:MotA. The other warlocks are pretty bad at dealing with the incursions. Though they will at least sometimes cleanse the corruption and fight back some (usually after I give them lots of gold, mana, and spells). It is nice to have them not all gang up on me immediately for a change, though. :D

Eventually I beat that game with a science victory. This time I played the same game with smaller continents and it makes a world of difference. Zombies can't gang up as bad as before. Plus I started on a continent with only one other civ. Too bad for them.

Never tried a game so large where the colors ran out, although in some of my games the color shades are so close I imagine a color-blind person would have trouble discerning the difference.

Started a game with Huge earth map and True Starting Location. Started with the Aztecs. Twice they started me on tundra, once is Spain and the last time in Brazil's spot. This is not what I was expecting. I think they need to work on it a bit more.

I did that map as Byzantium and observed no such problem. Mongols were my nearest opponent to the east, Holland to my west, so I had lots of room to grow.

Played my first Zombie game on Prince difficulty with continent setting. You have to really expand early, once the zombies start showing up it becomes very difficult to establish a city, I lost one of my late expansion cities. You have to escort your settler with numerous military units to fight your way to the location and then protect it for many turns while it gets established. I managed only one extra city late game because I had to have access to the 3 oil location, many Bothans died in the effort.

Ranged units are key to survival, so my science focus was upgrading ranged units, and production focus was mostly military, thus I never even got to launch satellites so I could see what was happening around the world.
I managed to get late tech in science but I did not have access to uranium so I was limited to oil using units. I had access to 1 aluminum deposits so I was very limited in military upgrades at that point.

I won the game on points and when I saw the world aftermath; Every other civ was whittled down to their capital city left standing and only 2 city states survived, those within my territory that I protected.

I enjoyed the game but it was tedious late game, fighting off wave after wave of zombies with bombers and artillery. I found it funny that zombies would wipe out my helicopters and tanks. Need to train my soldiers better I guess, stay in the air, and stay in your tank...
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Sounds typical of the zombie games I play. I usually play on deity and I think the zombie's power is about the same. No expanding mid to late game and all melee units die eventually.

I've found them to be like whack-a-mole, they seem to multiply faster if you don't take them out right away. I usually have zombie-squashing patrols in the areas where they seem to spawn most, when I see one, it dies immediately and I don't ever deal with scads of them. When I'm closer to opponents territory, however, I let them be.

I learned to whittle the health down to a single red dot in the health bar then let them be. They usually just sit around when they are not close to any units. If I kill them they just re-spawn within a few turns. Then if they start moving on me, one hit takes them out.

I couldn't tell if doing that was creating more zombies elsewhere though because I could not scout. Scout never lasted long.

You have one month to get all of Civilization 6 for just $50
Ever since Civilization VI concluded its New Frontier season pass – which offered a fixed schedule of mini expansions and free updates across a 12-month period – we’ve all been wondering what’s coming next.

Will we get another season pass? Another big expansion? Civilization 7? In the short term at least, the answer appears to be: none of the above. Developer Firaxis and publisher 2K have announced the Civilization VI Anthology, which is an all-in-one collection of all Civ 6 DLC. Available from later today (June 10), it includes both major expansions, the scenario packs from the 4X game’s first year, as well as everything from the New Frontier Pass.
To recap, here’s everything you get in the Anthology:
• Sid Meier’s Civilization VI
• Civilization VI – Rise and Fall expansion
• Civilization VI – Gathering Storm expansion
• Civilization VI – New Frontier pass
• Poland civilisation and scenario pack
• Vikings scenario pack
• Australia civilisation and scenario pack,
• Persia and Macedon civilization & scenario pack
• Nubia civilization and scenario pack
• Khmer and Indonesia civilisation and scenario pack

This anthology is available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99 / £39.99. Come June 26 on the EGS, and July 8 on Steam, the price of the anthology will revert to the RRP of $99.99 / £84.99.

I'm not likely to pull the trigger by the 26th which means I'll wait for cheaper than $50 a pop. I might check to see if Steam has a discount for owning parts of VI already as they do with some other games.

Edit, I don't even see it on Steam.

The Anthology is live on Steam now. And you still have to pay for parts of it that you already own . But it is still a real good price for folks like me who only have the base game.

On Epic the Anthology has arrived as well. Oddly it is slightly more expensive, but I think they are giving me credit for owning the base game there as well. I suggest that those who don't have an objection to Epic (or to Steam for that matter) take a look at both.

And remember, this deal goes away on June 26th June 24th for Epic and July 8th for Steam, per the article cited above. The Epic store does list the 6/24 deadline but I don't see the mention of a date on the Steam store page. Maybe I missed it?

Anthology plus coupon on Epic = 39.99. That might just happen. (right after I bought the other game...) I have until the 17th to make up my mind...

Can also get the Civ VI anthology upgrade on Steam for 39.99.

Really wish I had Civ VI base game on Epic to get the upgrade for $39.99 and then get $10 off. I'd jump for $30.

For what it's worth, Humble just sent me an email with a "just for you" offer of the New Frontier Pass for $10 this month, coinciding with the Humble Choice. Though I don't see that reflected when I follow the link so far.

I wonder if this is based on my purchasing one of the Civ expansions from them previously (I don't think I did?), or if they have access to my Steam account and can see I already own the base game and expansions. So I have no idea how many people this offer may be going out to.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Is it though? You can get Civ VI Platinum for $13 from Humble right now. From everything I have read about Frontier Pass, it's not that great (compared to previous civs released, and expansions). Its release very much feels like "the milking phase" of Civ VI's life. :D

This is my take on the Frontier Pass as well. The secret societies gameplay addition is worth what I paid for the whole pass. Other features are hit and miss.

I should clarify that my "Is it though?" was totally serious (since I have not played the New Frontier Pass content), and no snark or italics implied. :D NORMALLY, yes, I'm pretty damn snarky. This was not one of those times.

True, as well. Though I think every new civ was overpowered compared to non-Frontier Pass civs. That's not a rip on anything as the civs are never really going to be balanced against each other as soon as the player starts making decisions about how the game gets set up. I enjoyed playing each of the new civs quite a bit.

Some things, like Apocalypse mode, were misses for me (but easy enough to turn off), while the Heroes mode added a positive amount of amusement. The secret societies are a big hit for me. I'm not 100% if the wonder picker/city-state picker is only in the FP content, but that's a move I approve of as well. The Highlands map wasn't as game-altering as the same map in Civ V, but I still play games on it from time to time.

Definitely good content, and not just for the DLC completionist.

Some of the new pass civs were rather overpowered when released but nerfed in later releases but it is easy enough to win with any of the civs, olde and new.

I too enjoyed the Frontier Pass. I wasn't sold on it initially, but found I enjoyed a lot of the content. Little tweaks or options that changed up gameplay. I liked having new Civs and other options to try. And there are still things I haven't experimented much with (like the secret societies). So yeah, I'm ok with how things turned out.

I just picked it up at the $10 Humble discount after taking a break from the game for a couple years. I just view it as bundled DLC. I've always found the DLC civs/leaders to have negligible gameplay value, but they add a lot of flavour, so it's an instabuy for me at a discount.
