Expeditions: Rome announced

Post by Daehawk »

Thanks Blues News.

Expeditions: Rome Announced
Take on the role of a young Legatus whose father was murdered by an unknown political opponent, forcing you to escape Rome and take refuge in the military campaign to subdue a Greek rebellion. Step by step, you increase your military prowess, strengthen yourself in the forge of combat, and become the Legatus everyone learns to both respect, and to fear.

In Expeditions: Rome, you exert the will of Rome through your actions across the world stage, from the bright blue coasts of Greece to the deep forests of Gaul. Decide how people will view you, and Rome. Will you strike with an iron fist, or speak with a silver tongue? Will you embrace the political heritage of the Republic, or carve your own path as you navigate the complex politics of the Roman Senate? Every choice matters as you decide the fate of your legion, your close companions, and of Rome itself.

Oh wow.

#1: In. This is a bit like a dream title for me.

#2: I didn't realize this was a continuation of the Expeditions series at first. In fact, I didn't realize there was a sequel in the first place. The original feels even older than 2013 to me, but eight years (wow) seems about right.

#3: I remember not getting into the original because the combat was quite clunky though... I hope that doesn't carry over. What I'm seeing so far looks slow and simplistic, but it's hard to tell from the short video.

#4: This ought to make fans of Gladius happy. I don't regard it as the classic that some do, but it was definitely a ton of fun with a refreshing theme. Getting a turn-based tactical RPG set in the Roman Empire without fantasy elements? That's the most amazing part.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Heh, never knew it was a series. I started Conquistadors three times and never finished. Not even save scumming could se me coming back to town at the big moment battle. It always made the game feel like I came back too early or something. Seeing this makes me want to try and fail for a 4th time.

I really enjoyed the dynamic/leveling of units in the game.

Looking forward to finding out how this turns out. I, too, dropped out of Conquistadors after having it pitched as a Baldur's Gate  Those were some unmet expectations! Have thought about going back at some point but never have.
Never picked up the Vikings game. I've alternately heard that it was much better than Conquistadors and was a step back.
