PGA Tour

Post by Isgrimnur »

It took me 14 attempts to pass Q School in 2K21. There were, admittedly a few rounds where I rage quit.

I definitely had to turn off swing timing.

15 real world courses, and there’s a creator that I have not experimented with, as it took me 14 tries to get through Q School.

Pikers... I bought Jack Nicklaus 6: Golden Bear Challenge back in 1999 and after burning through the six included courses  I started downloading, playing and burning to CD courses made in the custom creator. I had several hundred courses, so many that I just would play them once and move on the to the next one. When I mentioned this on a forum, people were actually pissed at me for not playing each one over and over. Weird.

One of the tooltips is that a course doesn’t get a handicap rating until it’s been played 300 times.

Getting your card requires shooting par or better. Meanwhile, the cut line for my first event was +5.

I played quite a bit when it was first released. I initially turned off swing timing to sort out my swing and then turned it back on again. Looking at my settings I was on Pro difficulty and did well in two pga tour seasons with 13 total wins with one tour championship and 1 FedEx cup.

Korn Ferry was six events. I finished first in two, three more top 10 finishes, and one missed cut by one stroke.

On to the big leagues.

My difficulty setting is set at a 1.3 XP modifier, playing four rounds, and CPU skill is at 80%, which I have not changed from default.

First two tour events are wins. Should be interesting to see if later events increase the difficulty. I have not changed equipment and I kinda miss the old skill progression.

I guess this is as good a place as any to ask if anywhere here has done Top Golf? It's a chain of driving range/bar/restaurant. Last year a fellow unemployed friend bought a summer pass and again this year, I've gone twice in the past few weeks and a bunch of times last summer.

Among the things you can do is play a simulated games on one of 6 virtualized courses, including Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. While you are always hitting off an astroturf mat, the virtual ball location will determine if your perfect hit actually goes anywhere, or hits a tree, or trap, or water hazard. Putting involves chipping into a circle about 30 yards away...I'm a far better putter than chipper, so this does me no favors. It can take a couple of hours to play through a course, and while my friend has daytime passes, the beer is expensive and might always be brought by hot beer cart girl (as is common on actual golf courses).

It's on sale now for less than twenty bucks. Does it really take up a foot print of over 100 gigs?

What platform?
Nevermind. It's Steam.
And it's a free to play weekend.

Okay, good. When I downloaded it it had the download and footprint which was over 100 gigs. I uninstalled ten games to help make room for it.
Maybe they were projecting it with a bunch of saves.
