Geez . :(

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/ ... quaid-dies

Brad McQuaid has died at the age of 51.

He was best known for his work as the original producer and co-designer of pioneering MMO EverQuest, as well as contributions to its sequel and other MMOs such as PlanetSide and Star Wars: Galaxies.

The news was announced by his team at Visionary Realms, which is continuing work on his latest title Pantheon, who said he passed away in his home last night.

Everquest was groundbreaking. Not all of my memories of EQ are positive, but I can say without a doubt that my biggest gaming highs came from EQ.

Just starting in the wood elf tree city was an amazing experience, but that first boat ride I took from that continent over to Freeport was one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had.

Bummer, too young!

Loved EQ and I even Liked Vanguard way more than I should. Pantheon was the only "upcoming" MMORPG I was interested in even though I just don't have the time commitment required for them these days.

I was also watching Pantheon. Guess this will end it. Even with Brad pushing it it was not getting the funding. With him gone theres no way it will make it.

Rip. Some of my best gaming memories from EQ. Hope Vanguard stay together.

When I was playing EQ on Project 1999, they kept talking about "Brad" in the chat, similar to "a Wizard did it."
