Watched this. It was pretty good though I wanted a bit more depth. The montages of the impact of the discoveries were interesting, but it left me feeling as if it were more of a shallow skim on her story /character and I wanted more substance and depth on that, an example being maybe just answering how and why she became a scientist studying what she did, And then also the development and inspiration for her positive uses.

I did find the huckster stuff like radioactive chocolate rather interesting tho and the mysticism scenes were beautiful, but could have been woven more tightly to the character and ideas.

I just watched this last night. I could have done without those flash-forwards, which didn't add anything to her life story. Assuming it was an accurate biography, I learned that she was an irascible person (justifiably so) who hated hospitals; that her husband was a more sympathetic character than I expected; that she won TWO Nobels; and I didn't know about the X-ray ambulances in WW1.

The Boys S2E3 was just fantastic. There were so many "wow" moments. I was all onboard Team Homelander, but I might be switching to Team Stormfront. They are both pure evil.

I was wondering why the reviews were so low for season two. It appears many viewers don't like the change to a weekly release model. I wonder if the same thing will happen with the next season of Stranger Things.

I realize that the streaming giants want the weekly discussion and expanded buzz that a major HBO series gets. I'm not sure how you decide which series get that treatment, but I know Amazon's ad campaign for season two could have been better at easing fans into the idea.

Oh well, so far so good. Stormfront is a fun addition to the chaos.

Stranger Things is Netflix...which hasn't ever done a weekly release model, at least so far.

Amazon is pushing The Boys on their Roku app so much, it's starting to get annoying. Instead of having the show that I'm actually watching (Eureka) right under the promotional banner, it's now 3-4 rows down, with the first 2 rows mainly promoting The Boys.

While I'm enjoying season 2 of The Boys, it's less so than season 1 for me. The show just feels less focused for me. They have so many balls up in the air right now and none of them feel like a major story line yet to carry us through the season. But it might just be my perception.

As for the weekly release schedule, didn't they do that with season 1? Or am I mistaken?

So many storylines? Maybe, but I'm loving the storylines so far:
Spoiler:
Compound V - the dynamic between Starlight and A-Train is getting good.
The immigrant girl/brother
Homelander as a dad (and what a dad he is!)
The Deep's redemption (Homelander telling him his gills were disgusting was fantastic) as it completely ruined the self confidence he had been gaining)
Stormfront not bowing down to Homelander
The panic building around super villains ("super terrorists!)
Hell yeah!

When she was announced, I had no idea who she was (the actress) so I hammered through You're the Worst and could then totally see she was going to be perfect for the role.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

There were rumors and speculation (particularly after the release of Stranger Things season 3) that the big streamers were having Game of Thrones envy. They wanted the media coverage and buzz that the weeks long event that a GoT season received. The idea was to turn the flash in the pan coverage into an extended event by releasing major series weekly. Of course, they don't know which series will be major successes ahead of time.

The Tiger King with Nicolas Cage Headed to Amazon
According to THR, the series will "live in the lion's den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation."

I would kill to hear a lion telling park visitors that they should "pahk their cahs in the yahd out back" before licking its paw and demanding a lobster roll.

However, I doubt Wahlberg can get out of his latest acting gig....playing a two seat sofa in an off broadway production of True West.

There was an SNL skit decades ago where a man died and got to ask his guardian angel all the questions he could never have answered. One question was which celebrity sold their soul to get famous. I think the answer was Bruce Willis.

I've always thought of what celebrities have taken over that mantle. Mark Wahlberg is very high on that list. I'm only considering actors, so all the Kardashians are excluded.

I feel like you guys are really undervaluing Whalberg's early career when he got a gig acting as a hardcore streetwise rapper. He was robbed of the Oscar for that Daniel Day Lewis style acting job where he refused to drop character even when he wasn't filming a music video or wearing Calvin Klein's. Legend has it that the Funky Bunch couldn't tell if they were talking to Mark Whalberg or Marky Mark.

I love hate Homelander so much. Anthony Starr is great in that role.

I felt EP4 was a little slow but I can see how it's building - I just don't know where it's all heading yet. Sad there are only 4 more episodes left.

So what’s going on with Billy Joel in The Boys? It’s not just that they’ve been playing his music, but I think a different (?) song of his has been played in every episode, often as part of the plot. I can’t decide if it’s leading up to something or do the makers of The Boys just really like Billy Joel...

Early on they established that Hughie is a huge fan of Billy Joel. I think they're simply keeping in line with that character trait.

One of the articles I read on this is that a career politician who is featured in the film has such a damning interview that it's unlikely his career will survive. I wonder if that's just hyperbole from the ad team though.
