Until they broke through in '94, fans razzed the Rangers with "nineteen-forty". How on earth have fans refrained from "twenty-o'four-ing" these Leafs?

This BOS-NYI OT is firewagon hockey. Both teams with tons of chances. You never see this sort of play during post-season free hockey.

I gave up watching hockey 20 years ago. As a resident of Toronto I obviously made the right choice.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Now we have 4 games for Scheifele for last night's charging hit on Evans. Big hit, def deserved a suspension IMO, but this does seem like dart-throwing. This was at least during play, wasn't an extended minute-long assault on a defenseless player's neck and head like Reaves on Graves was, and Scheifele has no prior record. So let's give double the games that Reaves got and half what Kadri got.

Okedoke then.

I'll root for Colorado on almost any day of the week. But not when they're playing Buffalo (they don't need it), Dallas, or Las Vegas.

I had an amazing run of picking winners in the bubble last year. This year I was lukewarm in the first round (I did pick the Jets over the Oilers), but ice cold here in the second round. I had the Isles and have the Avs, but missed the other two series.

Here's to a great finish in the Knights/Avs series. The close games in that series have been unlike anything else we've been watching this post-season. An Avs/Lightning finals could be just the thing for bringing new viewers into the game, and would be a ton of fun for already-fans of the league.

I still have a dislike for the Avalanche after all these years. It all comes down to Claude.

I had no idea people had a distaste for the Bruins. For a long time, they'd have been my second team. Unlike, say, the Celts, Pats, or RSox.

Chara's not on the team anymore! So we're good?

I also suspect that the Bruins wind up getting some splash damage from people being fed up with the Patriots and Red Sox.

Wasn't that many seasons ago that the Avs were not only worst in the league, but history-making levels of bad. So there's hope: your team could soon find itself perennially losing in the 2nd round, too!

Vegas joined the league in 2017-18; Buffalo finished 31st.
...
2019-20 was the bubble year, top 24 teams went to the expanded playoffs; Buffalo finished 25th.
2020-21, Buffalo finished 31st.

It seems pretty well established at this point that Buffalo's problem is front office (simply because there are really not many other options left). You can't even blame it on coaching, seeing as they've gone through more coaches in the last few years than the rest of their division combined. Their dysfunction is almost intractable.

As for the Avs...I'm just pissed that they are blowing it to VGK, a team that I absolutely despise.

When I was young, the Sabres were the team that the Bruins would always beat in the 1st round before getting demolished by the Penguins in the 2nd.

The sad thing about Boston being out is it eliminates the chance of the Golden Knight defeating a live bear as the pregame show to a Stanley Cup final game.

Yup. So frustrating. They have the talent. But they always seem to end up choking. No idea why.

Last year the whole goalie corps was steamrolled. This year, they ran into the other best team in the league in round 2. The frustrating part for me is that next year the cap situation starts getting a lot more difficult.
