"The Bridge at Remagen" (1969, George Segal, Ben Gazzara, Robert Vaughn) is another film set in the closing days of WW2, with half the story seen from the German side. This is a more traditional war movie with plenty of combat and explosions galore. I know I saw it way back in the day, so it counts as a "watch again" even though I remembered virtually nothing about it. Quite satisfying.

I watched Hot Rod again with my kids last weekend. Pretty sure I laughed as much as I did the first time. In this case, that means I laughed a lot.

I love that movie. The excruciatingly long wrestling scene is hilarious.

It pales in comparison to Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!

I need to do a YouTube video of her watching these movies. She identifies many of the sharks, and takes the appearance of each sharknado even more seriously than Al Roker does.

was going to say, still trying to track down Michael Mann's _The Keep_ ... i could probably pay a $150 or whatever huge deposit on it at Scarecrow Video, but probably will resort to youtube - but UPDATE: i see it has an official release now. woo hooooo

(side note - i rewatched _Blade Runner 2049_ and it still was a completely unnecessary film, but i will admit it really is very well done for a movie that should have never existed in the first place. hard to reconcile that in my mind)

Michael Mann's _The Keep
That movie made an imprint on me as a kid and stuck with me over the years. I had trouble tracking it down for many years because I was confusing its name with another movie. Its just creepy enough. And Glenn, McKellen, and Prochnow..wow. Great movie.....if a little cheaply made.

I view Bladerunner 2049 not so much as a sequel in the truest sense of the word, but rather as a standalone story within that world. It does include characters from the first film, but only to add context to the Ryan Gosling character's search for his personal truth. I love it in light of that. It's a very, very good movie. And it's also what gives me hope that Dune will be equally good later this year.

As for The Keep, I love that one too...but I wouldn't call it a good film. It's just a fantastic slice of 80s cinema that feels like a fever dream at times.

I tracked down The Keep a few years ago because I remembered the haunting set up. Unfortunately the conclusion fails to deliver.

I had the weird urge to re-watch City Slickers today, and I'm glad I did. The mid-life crisis plot really hits a LOT differently now than it did when I was a teen. Also made me appreciate again how great Bruno Kirby was. It really is a perfectly executed little comedy and holds up surprisingly well.

How in the hell did that movie gain so much praise?

Nice, I'll have to watch that on youtube this weekend.

How exactly is that legal though? I can see paying 3.99 to watch it on Apple tv (the one streaming service I don't really use, unfortunately), but to watch it free on youtube after someone named Снежана Калинина uploaded it seems a bit sketchy.
