[Netflix] The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf

Post by Smoove_B »

Coming 8/23/21

“The world of The Witcher expands in this anime origin story: Before Geralt, there was his mentor Vesemir — a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped a life of poverty to slay monsters for coin. But when a strange new monster begins terrorizing a politically fraught kingdom, Vesemir finds himself on a frightening adventure that forces him to confront the demons of his past.”

When is the Witcher Babies Animated series starting?
Watch as Little Geralt and his pony Roach get into all sorts of trouble with local bullies, their friend and mentor - the ghost of Paul Lynde, and a particularly cranky Ekimma named Big Red in this delightful tale of growing up a kid mutant in a world of adults!

This feature is worthless without J. K. Simmons.

It was actually good!

Thoughts:
Spoiler:
Kind of funny seeing Vesemir as young stud boy.

I think they threw more wticher signs than in the entirety of the games and the books combined.

President Laura Roslin did a nice job as the voice of Vesemir's almost girlfriend lady.

Pretty neat to finally see the siege of Caer Morhen.

I just watched it last night and would also give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. I didn't really know what to expect, but I think they really captured the tone of the Witcher in this story. Definitely something to watch if you're a fan of the video game(s) as it will fill in some blanks...

To me, the second watching was better than the first. Very condensed and fast-moving.

The Swamp trial still made no sense, though.

I just assumed it would suck. Guess I'll give it a shot sometime soon.

Watched it Friday night. While I enjoyed it, I was surprised at just how many children the show killed…and usually in a very graphic manner.

I finally had a chance to watch this today and found it pretty entertaining. I watched it because I had a day off today and my wife has to work. She's never been that interested in the Witcher (games or otherwise). So, of course when she came home tonight and I told her I watched "a Witcher movie" she said "oh, I would have watched that with you"... :?

I agree with Freyland that it had a pretty quick pace most of the time. I might have had a bit of trouble following it if I hadn't played W3 and read some of the books as well. It was interesting to see the Siege and that certainly laid the foundation for the inhabitants and condition of Kaer Morhen at the time of W3. I might watch it again (with my wife this time) but figure I'll end up spending half the movie explaining it to her. Maybe she would be more interested to watch Henry Cavill first...

I was amused that the guy who voiced Deglan is the same guy who will be playing Dijkstra. He also had a small role in a film about Hobbits, despite being 6'2".

Likewise Jennifer Hale (Bastila, Jun'ko Zane, many others) was good as Illyana.

Yeah, that struck me too but in hindsight it wasn't that surprising given the backstory.
