Humble has New Frontier Pass on sale for $10 right now because the full game and all other DLC is in the monthly bundle.

So regretting not getting this because I already had it in Steam and the free games on Epic are largely spam for me. Anthology upgrade for $30 would be a no brainer for me. Having a hard time justifying $40 for Anthology on Epic (with coupon) or Steam (for owning base game) but I'm thinking about it. Looks like I have about a week to decide.
Yeah, I got it for my personal account, but pissed that I didn't bother to set up a separate account for my son (I have done this now) so would could play against each other.

Actually, now that I think about it, how would that even work?

I have CIV VI with both expansions (how I would prefer for us to play) on Steam.

I have base Civ VI on Epic, on my account. Can we play local MP on two separate platforms? Can we play if one of us has the two expansions but the other doesn't?

This is what I found with a google search. It sounds like you can play between Steam and Epic games (but not with tablet or console versions), but you do need to have the same DLC activated. I would imagine (hope?) that you can turn off/uninstall DLC to play the base game with someone that doesn't have the DLC.
This new mode is meant to bridge players between Steam and the Epic Games store. So while cross-platform play remains available across Windows, Mac, and Linux — provided all systems have the same game version and DLC activated — you still can't play multiplayer Civilization VI between PC and iOS, Playstation 4, or Nintendo Switch.

Hey, thanks for looking that up.

I did figure out how to play locally MP by logging in to both our computers via Steam, using the same account, one online, and one off. Now I'm just wondering if local, live MP for a game like this where I personally like to take my good sweet time on my turn, is a good idea. :D We only played hotseat before, and it worked fine (except we could see each other's strategic moves unless we got up from the computer)

That's an interesting offering. The base game is free and when they have you hooked, it's (on Steam at least) $20-$30 for each add-on :D

I don't seem to have it on my Epic acccount, and I don't think I've missed any freebies lately. Are you thinking of Yooka-Laylee, perhaps? Yoku's Island Express is a pinball-style platformer which is quite fun.

actually... maybe... it was Amazon Prime Gaming that recently had it for free.

Was totally shocked to find out I didn't yet own Nioh. While I am not near JetFred levels of game ownership/collection, I am starting to have enough to where it's almost embarrassing. My cousin (who's my age, and we used to play HOURS of C-64 games together, as well as spent days in arcades together) somehow only recently joined Steam (or maybe just joined chat?) and when I added him, or vice versa, and he saw how many games I had in my library, he said "is that number accurate? How is that possible?"

It really is an "abundance of riches" that when I really think about it, it's almost absurd. I refuse to go through what surely would be a depressing exercise of approximating how much time I have left on this little blue marble, vs the number of unplayed AND DESIRING TO BE PLAYED games I own. All caps bc I own sooooo many shitty games I have no desire to even install, much less play.

I can relate to this, not with games but with books. I've got hundreds on my shelves I really, really want to read, and I can't stop getting new ones to add to them

The fact that I also have 2400+ physical movies does not help with the absurdity of the game collection. I should never have to buy another piece of entertainment media again, if this were all based on logic and reason. I don't even bother to keep a count of the books. But anyway, the point is...why do I make sure to claim every free Epic game? I've never installed a game from my Epic collection.

I think it's so that when Steam somehow goes out of business and Epic doesn't, we'll still have something to play.
