BLAIR WITCH
Ghostbusters™: The Video Game [Remastered]
the BLAIR WITCH is the brand new one from last year, and this version of Ghostbusters is the 2009 one as remade by Saber Interactive that was also released last year - i think this is an Epic exclusive? it looks like the 2009 original is no longer on Steam, as well.
fun facts: Terminal Reality (the original developers of aforementioned Ghostbusters 2009) also made the first installment of the Blair Witch Project video game trilogy two decades ago. also the two BloodRayne titles. they're also defunct, as of seven years ago.

Re: Epic Games storefront: free titles
Hard to believe the 2600 was still around then.
We never got the 2600. We were fortunate though. My family had the Odyssey 2. One neighbor had the Atari 2600, and another had Intellivsion. If it weren't for the controllers going bad, Intellivision would have been my favorite and I envied them. We did eventually get an Atari 800 and I am thankful for that. It really was a good cross over to move from video game playing to BASIC (literally) computer literacy.

Re: Epic Games storefront: free titles
our first computer (other than the Apple ][e machines my mom would occasionally be able to check out from the school) was going to be an Apple ][gs, but at almost the last minute dad changed his mind and got a 286 8/10Mhz MS-DOS machine (640k RAM, 20MB HD, EGA 640x480 - this was in mid-1987). i was annoyed about that at first, as the arcade/console ports for DOS sucked pretty bad for the most part and we were still stuck with the Atari 2600. but... having a more powerful PC eventually turned out to be a good decision. Sierra Online titles were one of the first to really prove that out for games - Space Quest III made the resident NES-owning neighbors finally own up to the superiority of the PC platform.
i still wanted an Amiga, tho.

Our Atari 800 didn't get replaced until we built and 486DX complete with Windows 3.1, a video card, a sound/game card (Some sort of Soundblaster knockoff. We couldn't afford a real soundblaster. We had to make config disks for IRQ and jumper setting registers individually for any game to use it.), and a modem!!!! At $400 a pop, Dad gave us the choice of a 1200 baud modem or a 64k 5 1/4 floppy for the Atari. There was no reasonable way to budget for both The drive was hands down more useful. My memory is imperfect but I would hazard to guess that we had the Atari 800 from 1980 until 1990 before moving to a PC. Such good memories of that thing.

The original Ghostbusters PC version didn't have Multiplayer, which was pretty darned fun on the 360. AFAIK the remastered PC version has the Multiplayer.hitbyambulance wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 2:40 pm [10/22 - 10/28]

Was last year's Blair Witch an update of the original, or a new one? I played some of the original as I loved Nocturne and it was ok, but a bit too hunt and peck for puzzles for me

That Ghostbusters game is pretty fun. Good time to play it right at Halloween too.

If you happen to have a $10 coupon left from previous sales, it may expire tomorrow, mine did.
Star Wars Squadron is on sale for $29.99 so I got it for $19.99 with the coupon.

Me too, because all I would buy is THPS Remaster for my son's account, and Epic doesn't have a gift feature.

Re: Epic Games storefront: free titles
Thanks.
PC Games N
The Epic Games Store has hit some sort of snag in rolling out the next addition to its lineup of free PC games, so we won’t actually be getting the Cold War RTS Wargame: Red Dragon after all. Instead, this week’s freebie is Dungeons 3.
...
As for why we’ve gotten the switch this week, Epic simply says that the free launch of Wargame: Red Dragon has been “temporarily delayed”.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Since MudRunner is free it is a no-brainer to pick up, but it isn't near as good as SnowRunner which addressed a number of issues with the first game. Still, free is free

CaveStory+ is totally worth getting. i feel the original free version from 16 years ago set the pace for all the indie 'Metroidvania' titles we have now.
also, Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny were among the very first games that Twitch Prime gave away. so now, these are the GOTY versions.

For the bebothered and confusticated:
The Epic Games Store Holiday Sale begins on December 17, and we’ve got some goodies in store for you. Unwrap deals up to 75% off, but that’s not all....
Also starting December 17, we’ll be giving away a new game each day for two weeks straight - that’s right, it’s 15 Days of Free Games! Each game will be free to claim for just 24 hours, but they’re yours to keep forever.
