A thank you note to the site admins

Wanted to say I appreciated how this site recaptured the feel of the GG forums. After the demise of Gone Gold I was flailing about looking for somewhere to call "home". I'm sure many others were too. I was even thinking I'd have to go talk to real people! OO saved me from that fate, and I thank you all for it.

The color translation got munged with the conversion from .bmp to .jpg, but here's my last ever view of the Gone Gold forums (through the miracle of Opera, which I *have* registered, but haven't bothered with typing in the registration code):

Dude, screw the old colors. GG was green and black before and it changed. Time for something new.

Amen to that.

Gentlemen, I refer you to the FAQ from the Best Damn Web Page In The Universe:
I've chosen a black background for most of my text because it's easier on the eyes than staring at a white screen. Think about it: your monitor is not a piece of paper, no matter how hard you try to make it one. Staring at a white background while you read is like staring at a light bulb (don't believe me? Try turning off the lights next time you use a word processor). Would you stare at a light bulb for hours at a time? Not if you want to keep your vision.
So, howzabout an alternative colour template for those of us who prefer not to stare at light bulbs for hours at a time? Pretty please?

As I've said in another thread somewhere, I'm looking into getting a decent, ready-made dark style. However, until I get all the hacks I want to put in installed, it's not a priority. Two styles means two sets of templates that need to have hack code applied, which means twice the work to do so. It's not a *huge* level of effort, but it is one that I'd like to avoid if possible. Particularly because I'm focused on other things.

I can say that once we settle on a site look and feel, we can start working out the appropriate final color schemes and then base some forum styles off of those. We will have both a light on dark option and a dark on light option. We will replace the phpBB logo. We will have a printer-friendly option.

It will not be done by tomorrow. ;)

CONTENT UPDATE!

Just kidding.

You guys have kind of a thankless job, because if you do your job right, no one notices you, and if you do it wrong, everyone notices (like an offensive lineman!), so what I'm trying to say, I guess, is, I love ya, ya big lugs.

*hugs*
