Re: Yakuza 0
Hmmm, the comments on the Yakuza Kiwami page have more than one person saying they wished they just jumped right into Kiwami after finishing 0 -- I guess it picks up right where that game ended. It also seems to be much shorter, so maybe I'll try...

Yakuza 0 (takes place in 1988)
Yakuza Kiwami (a remake of Yakuza on PS2, takes place in 2005)
Yakuza Kiwami 2 (a remake of Yakuza 2 on PS2, takes place in 2006)
Yakuza 3 (takes place in 2009)
Yakuza 4 (takes place in 2010)
Yakuza 5 (takes place in 2012)
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (takes place in 2016)
Yakuza: Like A Dragon (takes place in 2019)
I think I'm going to dive back into 0 this week and promise myself not to get distracted. The intro of the second playable character in 0 is one of the best things I've EVER seen in gaming. It's so awesome.
You could spend the rest of the year playing through the whole list.

Capitalism tries for a delicate balance: It attempts to work things out so that everyone gets just enough stuff to keep them from getting violent and trying to take other people’s stuff.

Majima was one of my favorite characters of recent memory. I'm really disappointed by what he became.Octavious wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 12:37 pm Yakuza 0 (takes place in 1988)

Yes! I had no idea there was a second playable character when I started and when the perspective switched I confused, but that intro was awesome.

Started playing it again today. Geez I really hadn't gotten far in the game. Only on Chapter 5

I finally got around to firing this up. What a strange game. I had a hilarious moment though.

The game is filled with those type of side-bar random events and it's one of the reasons I loved it.

I got distracted because well it's me. So I'm still on chapter 5. At this pace I should be done with the series in about 100 years.

It's a punching simulator set in Japan. Few things deserve more attention.

Re: Yakuza 0
Yeah, when it originally switched to the other character, I was like Wow, new character and new city?? Found it interesting because while both cities offered similar things, they also had unique things to offer.
The only thing I wished I had known before hand was to know how much time I had for certain activities. While I completed the real-estate business end with Kiryu, I felt that because I was moving forward via the chapters, I didn't get nearly as much time with the escort business as I would have liked to. I also unlocked one side of the investment opportunities way late in the game for it to be any use, partly because I couldn't find him until I checked inside an obscure bar.

Re: Yakuza 0
What is the best order to play the series? Start from 0 then 1,2,3,4,5,6?
Or follow the release date, 1,2,3,4,5 then 0 before 6?

I started with 0 then moved on to Kiwami and will continue with Kiwami 2 and then the remasters of 3, 4, and 5.

Re: Yakuza 0
Some people have certainly said that, but I don't think there's really been any gigantic leap between the games where you wouldn't still enjoy it. I started playing 0 again last night after taking a break for no reason. And every time I wonder why did I stop playing? The game is such ridiculous fun.. I'm still only on chapter 7. I should finish in about a year.

Not if you play Kiwami. It's a remake of Yakuza 1 made after Yakuza 0.Victoria Raverna wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 4:32 amPlaying 0 before 1 isn't going to make 1 feel outdated?

I'm about 10 hours into this one. Overall I'm enjoying it, but like others have said I suck at the quick time events in this game, the dancing and karaoke games are impossible for me so I will avoid them unless they become a part of the story.
I thought Majima's introduction was really fun.

My wife did not give me the kindest look when I got to the hostess management stuff.

Re: Yakuza 0
For me, the timing was always off no matter what I did. I suspect because of a slow processor. But also, I could never understand the rules behind the dancing.

I watched one of the video booth girls and I actually felt dirty afterwards. Wasn't expecting it to be what it was.

Definitely not what I was expecting either!
Don't miss out on the phone dating mini-game. I actually laughed out loud a few times based on how the mechanics can create...unintended commentary.

And finished! Well the main story I would need a billion more hours to finish all the side content.
