Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
It looks great. Was a show from 2013 to 2016. I thought my wife would love it. It was on Cinemax. Is there somewhere else to watch it online?

Amazon Prime is streaming the first two seasons for members. I'm sure the other two will be added...eventually.

They also have a free trial for Cinemax - subscription via your Amazon account. I guess (in theory) you could get that 7 day free trial, binge watch seasons 3 and 4, and then cancel within 7 days.

Seems a great show. The fight scenes are brutal.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
Banshee still holds the title of best goddamn fight scene outside of a movie.
Warning: a reoccurring character bites it in that clip...although it's a character no one really liked anyway.

This show was a joke. The main character sleeps with every woman in town.
I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

That part I can do without. All that sex seemed out of place. I figure since it was Skinemax is why its in there.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
That was kind of the joke.
Banshee is not a drama. It is not a show that understands restraint. It was pure, over the top goofiness...and I loved it for being unapologetically so. It's more comic book than crime show.
It also include some truly fun characters. Job, Bunker, Kai, and of course Burton. While they all had some depth added to their characters over the course of the show, they mostly were just characterizations intended to bring the fun.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
That's an interesting point. I definitely got the "graphic novel" vibe from it, in the not-necessarily-positive sense. There were some things I loved about it. But it was obviously very hard to take seriously at times (and I wanted to, because the plot and setting were intriguing). Doesn't mean there's not a place for that kind of storytelling... it's just usually in a film or miniseries rather than stretched out over a multi-season series.
For all the silliness, there was some serious drama that hit like a ton of bricks. And I'm not a fan of gore, but I appreciate that the violence tended toward the realistic (and horrific), such as in A History of Violence, and not any one of the many sanitized action/drama television series.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
Finally getting around to watching this, thanks to a reminder from hepcat. If you just said, "Think of it as a bit like Roadhouse + Witness" I probably would have jumped in sooner. I'm only 3 episodes in and it's...something. I'm watching on HBO/Max/Whatever, if it matters.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
Wait until you get to Kurt Bunker. I loved that character. So much so that I gave other shows a chance simply because Tom Pelphrey was on it. He went on to a lot of great shows because of his work on Banshee, I suspect. Ozark, Iron Fist (did I say great? This is the exception), Outer Range, etc.. Same with the actor that played Job, another character I thought was great.
The show is absolutely absurd. That's why I loved it.

I'm already happy there's a Lafayette surrogate. If he somehow managed to recreate a version of Pamela Swynford de Beaufort as well, I'll be a happy guy.

Job is a lot like Lafayette ...if Lafayette could roundhouse kick Jean Claude Van Damme into another dimension.

Here's how actor-blind I am. I'm in episode 5 and I just realized the actor portraying Lucas Hood is
If I didn't read that, I'm not sure I would have figured it out. JFC!
Regardless, I'm halfway through S1 and this show is absolutely bonkers - I love it!

I didn't realize you hadn't made the connection. Although the padding on his Homelander suit probably doesn't help.
Fun Banshee Fact #327: The actor who plays Kai's right hand man Burton is a Princeton and Harvard trained Shakespearean actor. Something you can sometimes see in his performance.

I'm almost done with S2 and I'm beginning to imagine the story is being told entirely through Hood's perspective. Specifically, I suspect he's had about 37 concussions so far and he hasn't stopped working.
I love this show.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
One of the reviews I read a few season in noted that he’s not a great fighter, but he is great at taking a beating and will always be the last one standing. That’s the only reason he keeps winning.
Season 3 introduces Bunker. You gotta love a character who constantly introduced himself with “I know my appearance may be unsettling.”.

I'm on the last episode. S4 really uh...took the show to a weird place, eh? Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying the hell out of it, but I wasn't expecting a major plot point to be focused on
I'll finish it tonight, but what a ride.

You aren't the only one that questioned the focus in season 4.
Still, if I had one wish, it would be a buddy show starring Job and Sugar.
...that or a light hearted sitcom featuring the Albino from prison.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
It felt like they needed something - the third leg of a drama/conflict triangle so that's what they came up with. Like, it wouldn't have been enough if it was just about Proctor and his uh...production issues (and partnership).
Really is a bonkers show and I laugh every time

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
I also constantly hear "I know my appearance can be unsettling" every time I see Tom Pelphry in another show.
And finally, do you or do you not agree that a list of the single best fight scenes every filmed for a TV show has to include Burton vs. Nola? Absolutely chaotic but fantastically choreographed. The shots from the roof of the car as they battle inside was inspired.

Re: Somewhere to watch Banshee tv show?
Yes, that was an epic fight scene - and I think filmed before the infamous Netflix Daredevil S1 hallway fight scene (which was also awesome). No idea how they coordinated that, but it was tight.
Either way, the show might be over the top, but Banshee is filled with great characters- all quite memorable.

Side note: The Daredevil hall fight owed everything to Oldboy's hallway fight scene. Even to this day, I see a crap ton of movies and shows paying homage to this classic scene.

I had dropped and forgot this show I think when my wife died. I remember bits and pieces of it. I guess while Im waiting on a 3rd season of Reacher I could fire this up and watch it through.
