I asked this question back in August and ended up buying neither at the time.
With Christmas coming soon, I'll ask again.... sing out if expansions make a difference...

I feel like Painkiller blows Doom 3 out of the water. The grpahics aren't as good, but who cares? Paikiller by a landslide.
ohh and here is your rolly eyes you lost em.

While I enjoyed Doom 3 I would still recommend Painkiller since I thought it was betterr.

Generally a lot of shooting from a first-person perspective.
Having a first-person perspective means little if you CAN'T SEE SH*T!
Ergo Painkiller is teh winnar!

i played Painkiller waaaaay more than Doom III - far superior in terms of 'gameplay', which is what matters, right?
tho it's not like the audio-visual experience sucks in either game.

Hmm is Farcry or Halflife not an option? I really didn't care for the either of the games you listed.

Painkiller is more like the original Doom games than Doom 3 is, by far. Doom 3 is a wanna be System Shock with a engine written both for consoles and high end machines not yet available, so it runs poorly on everything. Painkiller runs smooth as buttah on just about anything.
