I'm OK with that but I'm still not sure what we are playing for?

I'm pretty sure JC and I are in as far as wagers go but any other Ironman entries? What's the stakes? :tjg:

I'm up for putting $10 toward whatever as well (ie buying and sending a scratch card to winner, simple money pool, etc).

I'm Canananadian, but live on the Michigan border and cross regularly, so I can at least send a US scratch card. Unless the winner ends up wanting a Canadian one for novelty. And same offer of cashing it and sending back the winnings (no tax in Canada on lottery winnings either!).

So, $10 scratch off ticket from each of the losers to the winner then?

Sounds good.

Should I just send you my address now, since I'm going to win anyways? :horse:

Also, I have a hike today and likely won't be able to send out a score update until after the 2nd set of games. I also don't normally divulge any trends until after I have all the picks, but I don't think this info will help GA or pr0ner given that it's week 1, and I think the rest of you may find it interesting while you watch games today:

PIT-ATL is split fairly evenly, as are CLE-TB, DEN-JAX, BAL-NYJ and ARI-STL.

CHI-DET has locks both ways, as does PHI-GB.

Good luck, all!

Heh, a lot of optimism on both sides? I predict a classic 6-6 final, in which Cutler throws for 5 picks and the Lions simply don't know what to do with the football once they have it in their hands.

Pffft. The Lions actually seem to have an offense so they should put up points. The Lions also seem to have no defense so Chicago should put up points. This is more likely a classic 107-109 game.

I don't think anyone will need a defense to sack Cutler this season. Just get near him, waive a hand, and he will fall down. With the Bears disaster of an OL, Vanna White could sack him.

Pffft...you were correct right up until Backus showed them how you really screw your QB. Let a guy come completely free on his blind side during the two minute drill.

Detroit just took that one totally up the ass. Full catch with both feet down in the end zone. Fuck you NFL officials.

I had ATL (PIT had the OT winner), TB (winner), and JAX (currently up by a TD). I locked the right team in the DET-CHI nail biter.

If, by rule, that isn't a td then something is wrong with the rules.

I completely agree. When he lands on his hip with the ball in complete control that should be the end of the play. But with this being a one-hand snag that wasn't chested, he's got to keep possession of the ball through his motion at the ground. Since the ball squibbed out at the ground: incomplete. :(

Thats the biggest beef I have. It wasn't a one handed catch. He had the ball firmly in both hands before letting go with one hand as he fell to the ground. His feet and hip are on the ground before either hand leaves the ball. The idea that he has to be able to roll over and get up with the ball after that is BS.

Rams game. Chris has had his helmet ripped off twice with a clear hand on the facemask ripping it off. No call on either play. Fox replayed of them because they have Long on ISO cam.

Agreed that the DET-CHI game ended in a supremely crappy way. Although my team benefited from the rule, I concur that it's a really crappy rule. But the call was clearly correct, and I'll take the W and will shed but a single tear at the Bears' suckage. At least Forte had a 200-yd day.

I snickered at my wife's picks this morning--PIT w/o Roethlisberger against the annointed Falcon? No lock of Manning? Locking the Bears? Guess she's getting the last laugh for now...

No kidding, the worst part is that was at least the third time in the game he'd put a rusher in a choke hold like that.

Wish the Rams would have had that ref. Brandon Keith did that, along with repeated hands to the face to Chirs Long, the entire game and never got called for it.

As to #71, now you know why the Rams traded him for Carpenter, even if they cut Carpenter. That has been Barron's M. O. his entire NFL career. 1) Multiple penalties against in a game - check 2) Game deciding penalty - check. Enjoy him Dallas fans.
