This is a different game. I suspect the responsible party for that post should be sacked.

Yeah, I was making fun of Grund since in the last game he started out speaking French.

Translated that reads: Isn't this the part of the game where you should be howling.

How the hell did I get talked into this again?

Note to the usual suspects: work will be a bitch the next few days and most of next week, so my initial participation will be less than typical in these games. Hopefully after that (knowing this crew, that will be about day 2 or 3), PPD should pick back up some.

Umm, that did not work so well the last time we tried it. Something about "I'm the GM the game would shut down" or some other whiney crap. He just doesn't respect our voices.

And that's how she got to the same party as me. Oh shit. I skipped something. Damn it. This whole robot bit. I made a big deal, then I like totally forgot. Fuck, this is bad narrating. Like my dad telling a joke. "Oh, wait back up. I forgot to tell you the cowboy rode a blue horse." Fuck. Anyway, I don't know ifyou want to see it now, but here's the fucking robot stuff for your viewing pleasure. Can I say "fuck" more?
oh wait this may be more relevant
Anyway, by now you may wonder how I wound up here. Or, maybe not. Maybe you wonder how silly putty picks shit up from comic books. The point is, I don't see another Goddamn narrator, so pipe down.

I'd just like to let you know the Wolves are probably already laughing at all the baseless claims. Judge not my fellow villagers. Althought I saw Remus shaving his legs earlier. I was walking in to give him his Avon merchandise and saw him in the bathroom shaving those legs. How do I unsee things again?

I wouldn't have shaved them if you hadn't complained about getting prickered when we cuddle.

I have the standard issue German hairless legs. I can't even imagine having matted furry legs and having to shave them or anything. Heck, I'm baby blonde and the idea of shaving my face every couple or third day is ucky for me.

Though my damned ears might have turned lupine and shaving them makes me feel old. :( Feel free to lynch my stupid ears.

And I think you guess misread Kelric's emotions. He's not shocked. He's wide eyed, like five year old staring at his hopeful chocolate prey. He's afraid to blink or look away.

But wait. Grund is never that obvious. I think he's going a level deeper and accusing Remus of being a mole of a bad guy.

When are we going to start discussing game thoughts, btw? For instance, would it be good or bad to call forward the medium on turn one, whom then could be protected by the hunter every other night? This would let us know the value (if any) of the player killed on turn one and make the medium safe. If the wolves go after the medium then they have a 50-50 shot of taking on the hunter.

I'm just waiting for Grund to do his deep analysis and then I'll think he's made some deep flaw in it which I'll point out. Which will then turn out to have been all some maskirovka to get the dogs to show their true colors.

Why haven't we moved to day yet? Can't the woofies make up their mind on who's feet to lick? Or is Lars comatose from trying to understand his own rules?

Or you can just make snarky comments and add no redeaeming value to the game like me. And then protest loudly when you're being lynched.

StratGuide

Werewolves (includes Beserker Werewolf)
The most important factor here is that the Werewolves will learn the roles of their victims, and will therefore be able to hunt the Seer more efficiently. It won't take the Werewolves long to form a theory about who's who. Meanwhile, the Werewolves will be able to exploit their knowledge of who's dead. For example, if they learn they've killed a Special, they can lead the people to invest their hopes in that Special's continued existence.

Beserker Werewolf
Obviously, if you're human it would be good to find this guy early enough that his choice of a human victim will be as uninformed and random as possible. If he's lynched late, he'll already have a good idea of who's who.

Sorcerer
Dangerous and relevant, the Sorcerer has three tactical lines that make sense: to always ask "Is X a werewolf?" or to always ask "Is X the Seer" or to always ask "Is X the Medium". Of the three, the first has much higher odds of yielding useful information. The sooner the Sorcerer identifies the Werewolves, the sooner he'll be able to follow their tactics and turn the crowd away from them-- provided they first identify him rather than kill him!

Seer
The Seer is the most powerful human player, though the Medium is a close second. The Seer's life must be preserved and his identity kept private at all costs until he has gathered enough information to give the humans a game-winning edge (or at least a margin better than what random potshots provide). If he successfully identifies the Cursed, he should do what he can to have that person lynched before the Werewolves convert him. If he finds the Berserker, revealing that fact runs a high risk of exposing his identity as Seer.

Werewolf Hunter
Using the Silver Bullet on the Berserker is perhaps the only way to negate the latter's power. Finding out who the Berserker is will not be easy, but the linking power of the Mentalist makes it more likely.

Masons
Fairly powerless unless a particular set of circumstances arises, the Masons enjoy the advantage of trust, and can potentially form the heart of a web of trust.

Priest
Like the Seer, the Priest accumulates lore. This role's potential ranges from irrelevant to powerful, depending on what the facts of death actually are and on whether they prove anything about the claims of the living.

Medium
Last LarsWolf, I pointed out that the Medium is essentially wimpy unless a rather unlikely series of events occurred. Later, that series did occur and the Medium turned out to be pretty important. Moral of the story: don't dis Madame Helga-- at least, don't do it prematurely.

Mentalist
"The Mentalist can, once per night, establish a mental link with any other living villager." The Mentalist is innocent unless cursed. There's a 50% chance that someone in the game is cursed, and a 1/16 chance that a given cursed person is the Mentalist. Therefore, the odds are (1/2) * (1/16) = (1/32) = 3%. There's only a 3% chance, overall, that the Mentalist is cursed; therefore, he's almost certainly trustworthy and contact from him should be regarded as contact from a known innocent.

If you're good and the Mentalist contacts you, you should immediately share everything you know with him, including your role and anything you know about others' roles. If you're a Werewolf or Sorcerer and the Mentalist contacts you, you'll want to deceive him in order to spread misinformation-- that's the sort of fibbin' that ought to be planned in advance and in consultation.

Meanwhile, the Mentalist should withhold his accumulated information unless he's pretty sure the person he's PMing with is not a Werewolf jerking him around. Once the Mentalist trusts someone for good reason, he should unload all his accumulated lore to that person. Information is the key to victory, and information dies with the slain unless we spread it around.

Tips for Werewolvery
  • Try not to kill the Sorceror; he might be useful.
  • Try not to kill the Mentalist; it's much more useful to make him think you're a Mason (perhaps confirmed as such by another "Mason") or that you're a Seer or (since Werewolves know the identities of the dead) that you're the Priest.
  • Try to kill the Seer.
  • Try to kill the Priest and then imitate him.
  • Try to kill the Hunter and then imitate him (since Werewolves can simulate "protection").
