Squid scouts spotted in waters they've never been seen in before

A comment:

Seeing the eye on that squid is actually turning my stomach. That looks WAAAY too much like a human eye.
And in banks across the world
Christians, Moslems, Hindus, Jews
And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue
Get down on their knees and pray
The raccoon and the groundhog neatly
Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

I mean we joke and laugh about it, but all this stuff is starting to hit too close to home. I don't know about you guys, but I'm setting up an octopus shrine in my house ASAP.

To paraphrase The Simpsons:

Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we've just lost the picture, but what we've seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft has apparently been taken over -- 'conquered' if you will -- by a master race of giant space octopodes. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the octopodes will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new cephalopod overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underwater caves.

We here in the Northwest scoff at the feeble squid forces. The rebellion has begun!

They are going to be SO pissed when this reaches their ocean city:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/10/19/jumbo. ... index.html

"When hundreds of giant squid washed up dead on the Long Beach Peninsula last weekend, Dean Marsh knew exactly what to do: He stocked his freezer.

"No sense letting them go to waste," said the 57-year-old bait salesman, who planned to cut them up and sell them to fishermen."

Good to see pitchforks work against squid corpses.

Apparently the first invasion was foiled due to atmospheric difficulties. Our overlords will have to work on this.

While you guys fret about some measly scouts, I'm more concerned about their amphibeous armored weaponry:

Nooo! Not calamari!

You know, I have a stuffed animal octopus. But he only has 5 legs (oh, right, they're called "tentacles"... how lame) so I named him "Penty". You know, pentipus? Get it? Huh?

So I guess I already have a leg up on creating my own shrine. I'll start placing the candles...
