I made mac-n-cheese last night with heavy cream, whole milk, cream cheese, shredded cheddar, shredded gruyere, and grated parm. Mix that up with some cavatapi. Top with crushed Ritz crackers browned in butter with just a hint of cayenne. Very rich and creamy.

Oh man, that sounds wonderful. I don’t get that fancy with my Mac and cheese. When I have a hankering, it’s about 15 minutes to make in the Instant Pot, no need to drain, stir in the cheese and pour into a bowl. Maybe add some tuna or meat.

If I lived by myself, I’d probably eat directly from the Instant Pot, cut down on another dish.

Daniel Radcliffe to Play “Weird Al” Yankovic in Biopic
Radcliffe will star as the five-time Grammy winner in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The description for the film says it “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.”

I don't think this project is aiming for verisimilitude.

Anyone know of a knee warmer that can accommodate an extra-extra large knee? The slip-on type are too hard to take on-off, so probably needs to be the velcro(tm) type. But most of the cheaper "fleece-lined" stuff isn't big enough.

To be fair, Hollywood made theirs 27 years ago. Voyager is almost as far in our past as the Original Series was in Voyager's past. We have tiny batteries, touch interfaces, super compact electronics, and high resolution displays that were sci-fi stuff when Hollywood made theirs.

Besides, Hollywood's goal isn't to make a high-quality working prop. It's to make something cheaply that looks right for the five seconds its on a 480 resolution TV screen, and lasts until the end of production (after which it's tossed, recycled, or archived.) They're not even worried about it making the right sounds at the right time - they can always do that in post.

Heros & Icons Network started airing the original TV series Hawaii Five-O (1968-80) today. It holds up pretty well. The first episode, a two part one, guest starred Nancy Kwan, Leslie Neilson, Lew Ages, Andrew Dugan and James Gregory among others, quite a few notable names for those of us old enough to remember.

Used to love that show in the 70s.

Nancy Kwan was a doll back then.

If your name was Fruit, you could say no conversation you ever participated in was fruitless.

Ex-Mariner reliever Emiliano Fruto could say this.

I watched a ton of Hawaii 5-0 in syndication back in the early 80s.

I remember once the bad guys planned to assassinate Jack Lord. They knew where to hit him because he got his hair cut at the same place every week.

To be fair, Jack Lord's hair was always an engineering marvel.

I tired watching the new Hawaii 5 0 but it just couldn't hold a candle to the new one. Same with Magnum PI.

Forgot my lunch at home. Nearly an hour to get a lunch at the BK drive thru. I now know what I assumed to be to case as I drive by all these crazy lines at the drive thru all day long every day for months on end. Don't go.

I like the new Magnum PI. It's good fluff to turn my brain off and watch. The female Higgins works for me too (as well as the other characters and also the nods to Hawaiian history and culture).

Jack Lords hair and Magnums mustache could have their own series. The Doo & The Stache. They would need a cool car though.

I'd watch it.

That could actually be a thing, depending on how much sugar your body is used to. Sugar is addictive, and sugar withdrawal is a thing.

If that is a factor and you stick it out for another week or two, the effects will go away, after which you'll feel better, be healthier, save money, discover that fruit actually tastes sweet again, and that actual sweets taste awful (they're overpoweringly strong, like fries with way too much salt.)

Food has always been my go to remedy for depression/panic attacks. Sweets especially. My diabetes is getting in the way of that so I'm cutting down on sweets.

Truck track clicky clack all the ducks go quack, sitting here in my shack, give myself a whack.
Doggy bone ring tone calling on the phone, when in Rome lets go home, give myself a loan.
Jack Sprat shark attack biting in the back, sight goes black when eating fat, give myself a pat.
Old man cold man sitting on a can, pumpkin spice twice as nice, coming out again.

Don't you hate it when you have a sore spot on your gums and a sharp nut or chip burrows into it? Also do you ever randomly bite your tongue while chewing? It's rare but very painful.

+1. So few people actually do that at fast food places around me that they're generally ghost towns inside.

I'm not sure that the fast food locations around me are all open to customers to walk in. I think most have the doors locked and just expect everyone to use the drive through.

Most of the places around me aren't ones with walk in but no dine in and dining in exposure is still generally verboten for me. I'm only around unmasked strangers when I grocery shop and once every few months with my parents when we try to hit a restaurant where the staff mask and we hit a quiet place right as it opens, where we will eat but not linger.

It is my assumption the lack of dine in/get in line to go contributes to the crazy long drive thru lines. That's an assumption though. I only notice them in passing. I don't sit there auditing them.

Most of them around here having the doors locked these days. Not because of COVID restrictions, but because of the lack of them (they don't have enough employees left to run both a dining room and the drive-thru.)

Some fast food here is drive thru only some not. Can never tell. Theres always some parked cars so its deceiving. I sat in a non moving Taco Bell line for 10 min. Gave up and parked suckers...ooops doors locked ...no inside just drive thru. Damn didn;t get anything that day. Gave them tire marks as I left.
