Got it. Was surprised they are doing a full remake. Also still own my original in box here. Never got into it. Got it because it was a Simtex game like MOO but it was so different I just never dug it.

Broken Sword Director's Cut free.
I've always thought the Broken Sword adventures never got the praise they deserved. Every single one in the series is amazing, and the best BS game is IMO as good as the best Gabriel Knight game (or VERY close).

Amazingly, they re-released most if not all the early games on iOS many years ago, and they did such a good job, I think it was better than the originals on Windows. Probably one of the best ports I've ever seen, and to be not just playable on a tiny phone, but ENJOYABLE (especially considering the point and click genre)? It blew me away. I'm still impressed and talking about 10 years later.

I decided to re-buy Starfleet Command III on GOG. I had it on CD (got it from Best Buy way back when, don't feel like going through my boxes) and see what mods are out there. I remember writing the guide for it, among other things, and not all of the new games are that interesting to me. Maybe I can go back and play it with mods and whatnot. AND I'm reinstalling SFC1, just for the heck of it. :D

And I bought Subwar 2050. I know, ancient game. Never played it way back when.

3 was the only SFC I finished multiple times but I wanted to like 2 more. But due to bugs I never could get into it. Still have them all in boxed format on my shelves. Love their boxes.

For fun sub action games you cant go wrong with Aquanox 1 & 2. I hear its predecessor Archimedean Dynasty was good but its too old graphics wise to me. Ive finished both Aquanoxes multiple times. Its Privateer or Wing Commander underwater with a good story.

For a good less known space sim I recommend both Starlancer and Tachyon: The Fringe wholeheartedly.

I was so excited about SFC1 coming out. On the day it was released I called my local Electronics Boutique, but they didn't have it and didn't know when they would get it :(. So I called the EB in Orlando, an hour away and they did have it :D. So I snuck out of work, drove the hour and got it and snuck bad. Ah, the days when you actually had to go somewhere to get a game...

In my own personal opinion, Starfleet Command II and SFC: Orion Pirates were the best ones of the series. SFCIII dumbed things down a bit. Some SFCII gameplay I recorded and posted recently over on the Winter thread:

Oh, I agree, but it seems GOG will never be able to sell SFC2, since Taldren/Interplay apparently signed away the rights to it to Dynaverse.net for perpetual maintenance and keeping the servers up. GOG can only ever sell SFC1 and SFC3.

I did write FAQ for all 3 games. AND Orion Pirates. :D

I tried starting Aquanox 1 and I think I got about 25% in and kind abandoned it there.

Haven't played it, much like my library of 100s of EPIC games, but it's free.

Speaking of GOG, their Lunar New Year Sale is on. You MAY find some older games you forgot about on sale, some games Ubisoft completely forgot about, like Shadowwatch, which is NOMINALLY a Tom Clancy game...

Interstellar Space Genesis is less than $8. Looks great.

The DLCs are less than $3 each.

They even gave me a 25% off voucher for Stalker 2...which if I had the money is a no brainer.

I got it on Steam last year with the first DLC. Steam says I played 20.7 hours.

Very much a MOO vibe, I was on a kick check out MOO style games. I remember liking this one adequately.

Had an interesting discovery mechanic where you were constantly searching to get higher levels of explored for sectors of space to find various bonuses on planets and such. Think there were 4 or 6 levels (so you had to research a sector 4-6 times to find everything in it).

Don't remember significant details beyond that (I played last April, ran out of time/desire for MOO games for a while and moved on to something else in the limited game time I had).

Spring sale is going on. I missed a giveaway earlier but there is a deck builder free right now "Slay The Spire like"

https://www.gog.com/en/game/neurodeck_p ... eckbuilder

I picked up Empire Rise of the Middle Kingdom while I was there as I was feeling an itch for a different classic City Builder coming on in the near future and I didn't want to replay any of my existing ones.

Pretty fun game if you get the right team together. And there are a TON of interactions. I found a strategy where you give three guys the same class, and use the stealth strike mechanic. It's pretty neat, but not a game I feel I need to replay more than once.

They just did like a week's free game every day last week. I missed most of them and the ones I got were likely shovelware. There was one that looked interesting (Sunblaze?) and of course I missed that one.

I actually did a review on Ancient Enemy. It's not bad for a card game, but it's basically solitaire.
