Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
So, Steam has this on mid-week madness sale for $20. Worth it? I've heard some not so nice things in some of the reviews, but DX:HR was one of my favorite games so MOTS would be A-OK for me.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
My only complaint is that it is centered around one city. I'd much prefer the globe hopping of the DEHR, and even more so the original DE.
That said, will we ever get another game as big as the original. We had several locations in NYC, several locations in Hong Kong, several locations in Paris, Vandenberg AFB, an undersea base, and Area 51 (and maybe others that I forgot, not sure). That game took you all over. I've really missed that.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
You're totally right, but the game is a little bigger than just Prague. You start in Dubai, and depending on your choices there are at least three other areas you may visit. They aren't huge, but then again some of the areas in the original DE weren't enormous. That said, it can feel somewhat claustrophobic at times and I would have liked some more pronounced changes of scenery. I still loved the game overall, though.Grifman wrote:My only complaint is that it is centered around one city. I'd much prefer the globe hopping of the DEHR, and even more so the original DE.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Question : The very start of the first mission asks me if I want to go lethal or non lethal. Does my choice apply to the entire game or do I choose which on every mission? Id like to try non lethal on this first mission because it would be the easiest one but later I plan to go full lethal. I read I can buy guns later but thats not the same. Ill worry Im missing something. Should I try non lethal then just start over and play lethal?

It only affects the weapons you are given for the first mission, you can (and will) acquire whatever else you need as you play.

Is there anything unique about what they give you for lethal?

Im not sure I can continue this. I dont know how to describe my control issue other than its 'sort of' like a floatiness or a lagginess to it. It just 'feels' wrong and off. I went into option thinking my graphics were too high but when i got in there I saw that most all of it was set to low lol. I actually needed to turn some stuff on and/or up to make it look playable. But of course now the controls are worse. I think maybe my specs are just too out of date to be able to play this game right right now. I may need to wait on a future upgrade to enjoy it.

Apparently, according to this: shacknews article, you can turn your mouse sensitivity way the hell down (to 0?) and see if that helps.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
That would be weird. Ill read the article and see if doing what it says helps any.
EDIT: Didn't work for me. Seems to be my actual sensitivity and not acceleration hehe. I did turn it down to 18% and that seems the sweet spot for me.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Ok Im starting to feel good playing this now. Lol had to save and quit to type this as it turns off almost all my keyboard lights.
Anyways I just visited the AUG specialist in my town of Prague and suddenly I realized Im enjoying the game now. I allowed Nvidia's GF Experience to optimize my graphics settings and then I went in and did my own tweaks to them. So the game is looking great and playing as best it will. Im also getting used to the floatiness of it . It improved yes but still taking me getting used to it to feel good about it.
Also the first mission was really putting me off. The very first mission you get you are supposed to visit this AUG guy in his store. But its being attacked by some thugs. Now if it was just that it would be fine and Id feel its just part of the story. But they also put the entire area behind a police blockade and it forces you to find the one single puzzle way into it all. Was really annoying.
My only other gripe at this time is the INV. Its SMALL. I mean TINY. Theres guys laying around with guns I cant loot and if I want to pick up hacking items I have to drink or drop my beers They give health so I hate wasting them but I like picking up everything and hate dropping stuff so Im the Adam Jensen that stumbles around drunk and sees 3 of each bad guy and start firing wildly hitting many walls. Its actually kind of funny. I need to get over not looting all the guns. its twangin my trigger Right now I carry a 357 pistol, assault rifle, and a shotgun. but I may have to ditch one as I need much more room.
For fun here is a pic of that nutty AUG guy. He put me to sleep and did things to me. Oh hey look you can see inside my head there on the left...how sweet.

Solved my INV troubles for the most part by buying the 2 upgrades. Now I have a sniper rifle in there too

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Totally forgot about this after my format. I just reinstalled it. Trying to tweak it.I need to tweak deus ex mk.....theres some setting making it feel floaty....it should play better than it does..haven't found the setting. Some if I try to turn up says it needs more than 2gb video ram...then I dont know if it simply screws up or if it takes it from my system memory..which is fine cause I have 16gb....I just dont know!
If it uses system ram after all the vram is gone that would be ok to me. But I dont know so I have to tweak it to stay under 2 gb video ram. But theres some setting making it floaty feeling and a little herky jerky. Need to find which one that is. Checking out tons of tweak guides now. Who knows maybe Ill be able to turn one down and increase two or three others in its place and still get better performance. Have a GTX 950

Tweaking did help. Before when I ran the benchmark it showed and average frame rate of 25. It had max at 29 and min at 19. After turning some stuff off that I really cant tell the difference in in looks it now says ave is 32 with max 37 and min 27.

FYI, like most DE games there is more than one way to get in to see the aug specialist. You just didn't look hard enough.

Yeah, there are at least three routes into the store. And at least two ways to get into the actual hideout.

It's one of my favorite aspects of the DE games. I do have to say that I didn't finish this game, unlike the previous one.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
I just read where you should do all the side missions as soon as you can as there comes a point in the story where getting to them becomes impossible and that the story isn't that long.
The first one on my list though wont complete. It says go to my apartment and talk to Serif. I did that yet it didn't update. Now when I try to do it all I can do is turn the tv off and on....no way to call Serif. So the very first one is borked. Hope the rest work. I have at least 6 showing.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
I am getting for my first foray back into the Deus Ex world since Human Revolution (and the original is tied for my favorite game of all time), and I'm starting the research to give myself some basic direction. The only thing I haven't decided is lethal vs non-lethal. I'll do stealth, but do I kill the bad guys, or just choke them out? In the original, I usually kill the terrorists, but Human Revolution did everything possible to discourage that.

Re: Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
You still get more xp for non-lethal takedowns, but a lethal playthrough is so much more satisfying for me. There are sections like the augmented ghetto that I go non-lethal for sentimental reasons, but in general I have no issues carving a path through the bad guys.

It's a bad time to be a developer. Not only are there jobs being cut left and right, but it's got to be impossible to get a new job in the field these days. Cuts mean that companies are at or near capacity, and all the layoffs mean that job openings are probably saturated with applications.
I'd also imagine that new people coming into the field are more-or-less out of luck.

Man, that's brutal. And it doesn't look like Embracer has accomplished very much aside from closing studios and crushing dreams. Seriously, I wonder if it was a good purchase for them to acquire so much.

They have a massive catalog of IP that is potentially worth a fortune long-term. It was certainly expensive, but it wouldn't be the first time that a large company bought a smaller just to get access to their IP, then shut them down.

Yeah, I guess it's a matter of waiting to see if they do anything worthwhile with the companies they own rather than closing them, as that's basically all you hear from them.

To keep with the theme of the thread, these megacorps are getting a little out of hand. It seems like every industry these days is run by 3-4 companies.

Yeah, agreed. Microsoft alone within the last several years has nabbed a number of high-profile studios, from the entire Zenimax umbrella to more recently Activision-Blizzard, and some high-profile rpg developers such as Obsidian. As a gamer, I just see a large company that has scooped up so many big studios and IPs, and I just don't see it as a good thing. I'm aghast that it was allowed to go through, and it honestly makes me more than a little nervous for the future of our beloved hobby.
