Hawaii News Now reports that Brennan was at a rehabilitation facility in California at the time of his death.

Brennan struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout his life, last being arrested in 2020 on a second-degree trespassing charge after refusing to leave a hotel while intoxicated. A 2010 car crash left Brennan with brain trauma.

The week before mothers' day we were down at my mom's house, watching some game show from the early 1980s that included the St Elsewhere cast. I looked up Norman on IMDB and said "holy shit, that dude's 106 now and still kicking".

Silver, a chemist from Texas, created the adhesive that gives Post-it Notes their stickiness. It took years for his colleague Art Fry to realize the specific genius of Silver's invention. Silver, who earned 37 patents while at 3M and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for his achievements, died this month at age 80, 3M confirmed. He's survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Jennifer, his two grandchildren and the sticky notes that litter our lives.

Veteran space journalist Jay Barbree, who covered more than 160 missions, dies at 87
Space journalist Jay Barbree died Friday in Florida. The veteran NBC News correspondent was 87.
Barbree began covering NASA in 1957 when the space agency was struggling with a series of humiliating rocket explosions.
In 1958, Barbree joined NBC News and began a storied career that would span 61 years.
He went on to cover every human space mission to leave U.S. soil, beginning with Alan Shepherd’s Freedom 7 flight in 1961, until the last space shuttle mission in 2011.
In all, Barbree reported on 166 human spaceflight missions.

People who regularly followed Gamespot's live shows from a decade+ ago may remember Tor as a regular member of On the Spot alongside other staff like Jeff Gerstmann, Rich Gallup, and other members of that mid-2000's heyday of the site. It's difficult to find anything on where Tor went after he left Gamespot and CNET, but members of the community who remember those days might recall his presence as just part of what gave shows like On the Spot, The Hotspot, and others their distinct personality and helped foster that audience

Kid reporter who interviewed Obama at White House dies at 23
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The student reporter who gained national acclaim when he interviewed President Barack Obama at the White House in 2009 has died of natural causes, his family says.
Damon Weaver was 23 when he died May 1, his sister, Candace Hardy, told the Palm Beach Post. Further details were not released. He had been studying communications at Albany State University in Georgia.
Weaver was 11 when he interviewed Obama for 10 minutes in the Diplomatic Room on Aug. 13, 2009, asking questions that focused primarily on education. He covered school lunches, bullying, conflict resolution and how to succeed.
Weaver then asked Obama to be his “homeboy,” saying then-Vice President Joe Biden had already accepted.
“Absolutely,” a smiling Obama said, shaking the boy's hand.
He used that meeting to later interview Oprah Winfrey and athletes like Dwyane Wade.
“He was just a nice person, genuine, very intelligent,” Hardy said. “Very outspoken, outgoing. He never said no to anybody.”

There are definitely diseases, syndromes, cancers, or even viruses that can kill a 23 year old and be classified as “natural causes.”

Always hated how that all went down. The real singers were good and should have gotten all the spot light. Instead some lip sync'n no talents got it. Was all wrong.

Mark Eaton, longtime Utah Jazz center and 2-time NBA Defensive POY
passes away at 64. Went out for a bike ride and didn’t come back. No foul play suspected, but no more details.
I worked with Mark a few times in my last job, when we would set up “celebrity” basketball games with former NBA and Collegiate players from Utah. He was one of the nicest famous people I’ve ever met. RIP Mark.

MacLeod passed away overnight early Saturday morning at his home in Palm Desert, CA -- where he was surrounded by loved ones and caretakers ... this according to Gavin's nephew, Mark See.

If nobody was willing to do that, our justice system would fail. Quickly.
I don't know anything about this particular guy, but a lot of people who defend criminals do so because they believe in justice and know that it is vital - despite the hatred they get, and despite the emotional toll of trying to keep terrible people out of jail.
Some also game the system to get guilty people off on technicalities. Which... may also be necessary? Or may just be scummy? I don't know. I'm glad it isn't my job to decide how far to go.

I have no problem with lawyers in general. But no one forces anyone to defend someone who shot 3 people on video or such n such stuff. Its more a people thing I dont like.Morals and all I suppose. I guess some are in it for the glory and the money. Yay them I suppose. Just wouldn't want to be them at death and afterlife. Then again Im guessing they dont carry that belief in life or they wouldn't choose those clients.

But that's the point of his question. If a guilty person doesn't get representation, then the American legal system falls apart. Criminals have human rights, too. If you value things like freedom from unreasonable search and seizure, then you should value criminal defense lawyers who defend the guilty. If you think that someone arrested for (and yes, guilty of) minor possession should not by default get the maximum sentence, then you should value criminal defense lawyers who defend the guilty. What about someone who killed another person and the prosecution is going for premeditated murder, but the crime wasn't actually premeditated? The accused in that case is guilty of
something, but not necessarily what he's been charged with. You need a criminal defense lawyer who is willing to defend the guilty to advocate for that person.

I have zero issue with someone defending the worst of the worst. That's how the legal system works and the ability to protect even the guilty is good for us all. Everyone deserves a defense. Everyone.
