Re: Games Finished 2012 -Console and PC Games
My gaming accomplishments for 2011...13 games finished, which just happens to be the same number as 2010. Interestingly, I haven't finished a game since November 13, but that's purely because the last six weeks of the year saw me totally sucked into Skyrim. I'm excited to see what 2012 brings!
Finished
Mass Effect 3 - May 4
The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim - July 16 - Completed Main Quest, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves' Guild, College of Winterhold, Eleven Daedric Quests, and reached level 50 over the course of 164 hours
Darksiders II - October 29
Halo 4 - Heroic -November 22
In Progress
Rage
The Witcher
Rocksmith
Bioshock 2

Re: Games Finished 2012 -Console and PC Games
2011 was probably my worst year for finishing games. I spent too much time playing large open-world games and getting either distracted or bored before finishing them. Will try to do better this year.
Finished:
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoninig
Diablo 3
Fairway Solitaire
Gray Matter
Bastion
Currently playing:
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution
Fallout: New Vegas

PS Vita:
Little Big Planet
Sound Shapes
Persona 4 Golden (I'm not a big fan of Japanese game design but the raving reviews made me curious. So far it's ... interesting. Let's see how it continues)

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (PS3)

Jesus said, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body."[Matt 10:28] God can totally destroy us.
Jesus also said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”[John 6:40] Eternal life is conditional.
His disciple John wrote, "Whoever has the Son has eternal life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life. [1 John 5:12] Eternal life is optional.

Games Finished:
xBox 360:
Dragon Age: Origins
PC:
Diablo 3
Other:
Jan '12 Notes:
Dragon Age was a good finish. I'd bought this when it first came out, and played for awhile but got stuck, then picked it up again and finally finished it. It gets tougher and tougher to finish involving RPG's as I get older, but I still gravitate towards them. Bioware still has some of the greatest writing - I was genuinely sad as the various members of my party said their goodbyes when going to fight the final battle(s).
Jun '12 Notes:
I've been playing a bunch of games, but not really finishing any. Re-started Skryim a few times, some King Arthur, the Witcher, Sins of a Solar Empire, Defense Grid, Serious Sam 3 BFE, Starcraft 2, etc, until I finished Diablo on Normal - which at 30 hours, I'll call completed.

**** "Terrorist Takedown: Covert Operations" also known as "Terrorist Takedown: War in Columbia". Published by City Interactive way back around 2007 I think, I finally acquired the full version through GamersGate last year, and completed it just now. It's yet another in City Interactive's long line of budget shooters, of which I guess I am fan, because I buy them all. I give it 4 stars out of 5 for some nice long-range sniper shots, and some very pleasant environments. It had several scripting errors, mostly fixed with a few savegame reloads, but I had a lot of fun with it anyway. Another thing; most City Interactive shooters are only 7 missions long - This one was 11 decent-sized missions.

Re: Games Finished 2012 -Console and PC Games
After being distracted by MMOs, Diablo 3, and two rounds of Warlock: Master of the Arcane, I finally finished another game.
I wrapped up Batman: Arkham Asylum. I mainly wanted to play through it before I started Arkham City. I really, really enjoyed it. Not too arcade-ish. A decent amount of stealth. Lots of fun gadgets and upgrades, and shiny things to collect. Not to mention all the comic book material referenced. Good stuff.
Will probably take a break and play a different game before B:AC, but at least it's one off my backlog.
EDIT: Skyrim is done now too. Main quest, and a bunch of side lines.

We need more people rating the games once they’ve finished.
I enjoyed looking through Chris and Hipolito’s opinions. Chris is about on par with me but I’ve learned that Hipolito is my polar opposite on most games!

Thanks for posting your ratings, too! My opinions do tend to be more negative than average, sometimes extremely so. I may be the Jeff V of games. I think it's because my very first games (Wasteland and Starflight) set the bar way too high and spoiled me ever since.Lordnine wrote:We need more people rating the games once they’ve finished. :)

When 2012 is done, I intend to do an analysis of this thread, looking for trends and interesting statistics. Hope you like pie, 'cause I'll be serving up charts of it!

I play games to be entertained and I rarely buy games that I don’t think I will enjoy so generally my ratings scale high, or at least they do on my personal scale.Hipolito wrote:

1-4 are games that are pretty bad and or do something that angers me enough that I can’t forgive their faults.
For me a 5 is a game that is either completely average or just doesn’t do anything for me. There may not be anything technically wrong with the game but it’s not for me.
6-8 is a game that is worth solid look as long as it’s in a genre you enjoy.
Giving a 9-10 on the other hand is a game that I would recommend to pretty much anyone.

Re: Games Finished 2012 -Console and PC Games
I was about to knee-jerkily respond "Hey, I play games to be entertained, too!" But truthfully, I do make some risky purchases of games that sound interesting but aren't guaranteed to win me over. This leads to a lot of disappointment, but also some worthwhile experiences.Lordnine wrote: I play games to be entertained and I rarely buy games that I don’t think I will enjoy so generally my ratings scale high, or at least they do on my personal scale.
On my OO-certified cephalo-scale, 0 to 3 means Hated It, 4-5 is Whatevs, 6-7 is Grab that Sucka, 8 is Sucka Grabbed Me! My ratings are purely subjective and don't necessarily reflect whether others would enjoy the game or even the game's objective qualities. If a meteor had crashed into my home while I was playing Demon's Souls, I'd have given that game a zero. OK maybe a 2.

Re: Games Finished 2012 -Console and PC Games
Hmm... a bit late to the party. Let's see what I can remember finishing (all for the 360 or PS3):
XCOM
Mass Effect 3
Dragon's Dogma
Borderlands 2
Batman: Arkham City
There are likely a few more, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
