Dammit. That's going on the list. SLOW DOWN, SPICER YOU DICKBAG, it's just the first week!Moliere wrote:Federal Hiring Freeze Announcement
At a press conference today new White House press secretary Sean Spicer stated that the freeze was established because it "counters the dramatic expansion of the federal workforce in recent years." Just one problem: There has not been a dramatic expansion in the federal workforce in recent years. According to the latest Office of Personnel Management, the number of federal civilian employees stands at around 2.7 million, just about where it was in 1966. In fact, civilian federal employment is down from its 1990 peak of just under 3.1 million. Relatively speaking this means that in 1966 there was 1 federal employee per 70 citizens and now there is 1 per 121 citizens.

Taking credit for continued economic growth trend that's been ongoing for years? We've been regularly hitting historic highs since November, 2013. Twenty-four of them before this past election day, to be specific. And another six between November 10th and December 13th.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

But just to drag it back on topic that growth has obviously been because Trump won the election. It was just the tremors before the eruption.

Re: Thread for 'Alt-Facts'
None of this comes as a surprise, of course. The Atlantic, for one, called it immediately following the election.
The U.S. Media Is Completely Unprepared to Cover a Trump Presidency
The U.S. Media Is Completely Unprepared to Cover a Trump Presidency
Happiness, comrades, Minitrue will rectify oldthink malquotes doubleplusquick. Given time, alt-facts will simply become goodthink.Donald Trump and his surrogates have shown an uncanny ability to lie in the face of objective facts. They will now have the power of the federal government to help them.
Saddam Hussein was allied with al-Qaeda, and helped finance the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Hussein regime had sought uranium from Niger. Iraq had obtained aluminum tubes to be used to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons.
All of those assertions turned out to be false. But they echoed throughout the press in the months-long run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and only after the war turned to disaster did the media engage in soul-searching and self-criticism. And even then, many sought to deflect blame. Judith Miller, the Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter whose front-page story about the aluminum tubes bolstered the case for war in Iraq explained: “My job isn’t to assess the government’s information and be an independent intelligence analyst myself. My job is to tell readers of The New York Times what the government thought about Iraq's arsenal.”
During the 2016 presidential campaign, reporters marveled at the ability of Donald Trump and his surrogates to create an alternate reality in which statements made by the candidate had not been made at all—from his view that global warming is a hoax, to his nonexistent opposition to the Iraq War, to his refusal to say he would concede in the event of a loss, to his remarks about his relationship to Russian strongman Vladimir Putin. These are people who could argue that the sky is green without a blink. They were able to win a presidential election while doing so. Now they will have the entire apparatus of the federal government to bolster their lies, and the mainstream press is woefully unprepared to cover them.

In all seriousness, I do think we have reached a point in time in this country, sadly, where someone simply stating "it's being reported in the news" (lowercase n, as in "generic news") can be given no credence whatsoever. Almost all news brands have become tainted by association with left or right agendas, whether that is true or not...the perception is there on both sides.

As an admitted non-reader, will he even have a library? Based on what we know of his personality, does a library seem like something he would do as a memorial to his greatness? I think no. Soviet era sized museum - lots of concrete, massive. No books. Printouts or video screens rolling his tweets over the years, and maybe some of the Apprentice episodes.
Lots of busts and statues (of him, obviously!)
A "list of enemies" and how, specifically they were wrong, in a prominent position.
Museum guides will be hot, white, young women (only). Entrance fee will be $1,500K per head, because of course nobody wants poor losers milling about in there...got to keep the place classy!

I've been to several Presidential libraries. All were mostly just museums from the public's view, with storehouses of documents from that President's reign.
So, yeah. What you described, plus a thumb drive.
