Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
So, I go to the KS page to see if a certain creator has responded, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw an "interesting" non-game Kickstarter item as their front page feature. It took me a second to realize that, no, it wasn't the item it looked like. There for a second, though...

My neck hurts just watching that.
I dont recall moving my head like that when playing games on a hand held.
It means learning a new skill and getting neck pain fie me.
Im out.
IIRC track ir was useful for large head movements like looking out plane windows or twisting your head in Arma.

Why would any one turn a vest into a tote (and back)?

A mechanical keyboard... with a TINY flip-up screen... Hmmm... Ganss is actually a well known mechanical keyboard maker in China, just not widely known in the US (except to people who are into the hobby), and HelloGanss is one of their subbrands.

Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
Our local sports arena implemented a new rule where they only allow bags that are no more than 6" x 4" x 1.5" (or something like that). Which is barely enough to stuff a cell phone and a money clip. This would be a really good use for a vest that you can turn into a tote

As a portable bit set that also does ratcheting, this doesn't look bad, but the price is a bit high.

I just received my copy of Gratuitous Ninja, backed on Kickstarter last year. It's a graphic novel in a vertical scrolling format: 400 feet of comics packed into a single box. A really beautiful production, and the story is fun so far.

$30 for a "forever pencil" that writes on almost anything, wet or dry, can be good for outdoorsy people...

Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
Another non-game Kickstarter (technically Crowdfundr - so many platforms these days) arrived today: the Strange Beasts Tarot. I am not a tarot person, but my wife mentioned a while back that she was looking for a deck, and this happened to be crowdfunding at the same time.
It's a much fancier production than I expected. The box is super-sturdy with a cloth texture and metallic ink, and the cards have a copper edge that haven't seen before. The art is charming and weird.

A folding coat hanger for shallow spaces. We might actually have use for this. Our kid's closet was designed for kiddie-size hangers, which is a problem now that he's wearing adult clothes.

The folks who had brought you the Hipster Wallet series returns with... The Shuffle wallet, apparently inspired by a Chinese fan, but it's way too expensive, IMHO.

$45 for a hardened media storage vault AND card reader/writer that can hold 4 SD cards and 12 MicroSD cards (and 4 nanoSIMs? Why?) with built-in cable and adapter so it can taken into the field and be used.... Not bad?

Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
I chuckled when I saw that someone created a kickstarter to make a sequel to the god awful Roger Corman 80's sword and sorcery film, Deathstalker...until I saw who created it.
Steven Kostanski is one of the best low budget horror/scifi/comedy filmmakers working today. If you haven't seen Pscyho Goreman or The Void, you're missing two really great movies. He really should be making big budget films at this point. It's criminal that Hollywood hasn't snatched him up. Although if they did, it might ruin what he does as he may be one of those filmmakers who operate best when they have to fight for every dollar on screen.
I'm going to back just so they'll add my name at the end of the credits.

Do you like tea? Friday Tea in Seattle, my favorite teabender, is launching a line of tea in teabags, instead of just selling looseleaf.

Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
Now this, I can get behind, EXCEPT for the price, but if it came with all 30+ batteries... 30+ AA batteries are only worth... $35 at best? I can imagine paying 65 for a "set it and forget it" battery charger if you need that many of them around...
Basically, you toss in the Ni-MH batteries at the top (AA or AAA depending on version), wait overnight, pull out as many charged ones as you need. It will AUTOMATICALLY charge the ones that can be recharged, and reject the ones that can't be. Except even SEB price is like $100...

I want to back Y_Glasses Pro, which is basically Razer Anzu in a much sleeker frame and magnetic tint swaps, but I'm pretty sure that size is too small for my head, even if it's spring-hinged.

Re: Interesting Non-Game Kickstarter Items
Now this may be a genuinely innovative keyboard... if it works really as slick as it seems...
Basically, instead of a tiny little screen that's only a couple pixels big hiding in a corner of the keyboard, you have a genuine 2nd screen, that you can drop infrequently used windows like Slack chat, calendar, ticker, notifications, and stuff onto, but you can also map buttons onto it as launcher, to make it work as super-customizable macro board. (Personally, I want to buy the screen and the software, and use it with my own split keyboard rather than their crappy one)

Katy Bentz, a voice actor that I follow on Twitch, is one of the principals for a Kickstarter to fund an indie horror film with a modest budget of USD $25k. If that's your jam, you might want to check it out.
