Xbox 360 resolutions question

Post by AmericanIdle »

No that this matters much but I am curious. I have a Hitachi 55VF820 TV and the native resolution is 720p and it handles 1080i as well. When I set up the 360's video settings, I picked 720p. I noticed that some of the arcade games are listed native at 1080i. I run those in 720p. It seems that the 360's HDTV settings force you to pick one instead of enabling both and using whatever is native as does my hd cable box.

At least in HD mode it does.

The reason why is because the 360 natively puts out everything at 720p scales the signal from there.

So does that mean it's better to set it on 720 than 1080?

I had read that 720p would be better for games. Something about it being 60fps and better for moving scenes, while 1080i is 30fps and crisper for still pictures.
