Just a simple request. Can we have an icon for the site? When using tabbled browsing, having a special icon to identify the site makes it easier to see.

I assume it's not a difficult matter.

Yes, a little icon thingy would be good to make OO easier to find in the bookmarks, etc. I have been meaning to ask the same thing.

Obviouslu, we'll probably have something more temporary at first, but I'll get this taken care of by the end of this weekend at the latest (and it looks like today will be a half day at work at worst, so that's good).

Actually. . .I think I have the perfect candidate.

Also, I don't think you can still be stealthy wearing that PD.

It's coming. I'm having trouble getting this to work so I'm having someone check into it. The icon I chose is temporary.

Though if anyone has the old :hawk: (nee frowny face) icon from UBB, please email it to me.

The icon? I don't see it. Should be in the address bar right? But then I'm on IE 5.5 @ the office so me not seeing it probably doesn't mean much.

Oddly enough, I can see it in the address bar in FF, but not in the tabs. I'm trying to play around a bit to see if it's something about the format of the file, because I can see the icons in tabs for every other site.

Actually, let me confirm that it's not working globally first. Can anyone else see the icon in the tabs of Firefox?

huh... I just tried Firefox (been playing around with it seeing if I'd consdier using it full time) and showed up on the tabs at first but then went away. I guess it flew off into the sunset ;)

And now it goes away whenever I go to a new topic or forum after initailly loading the site in IE and Firefox.

I can verify this, and also that it shows up in all three places in 8.01b Beta.

It shows up in the address bar, but not on the tab, for my Firefox.

Sadly, this isn't the original version that more clearly depicted a hawk carrying away a groundhog into the sunset. I fear that one is forever lost to the ether. :(

Yeah, this is a "blown up" version of that very icon. (Early on the the GG days I had cleaned those icons up a bit for some black speckling, and I believe Andy implemented them into the forum software. I managed to track down the suitably aged icons off of an archived hard drive in my work PC today. They're pretty legacy. I'd imagine that either Gedd intentionally expanded the size of the icon, or the web browsers upon which it is reproduced automagically expand the size to fit some standard.)

Well, I might be able to do something there. My photoshop skills grow in l33tness by the day, and I'll take a look at it tomorrow at work.

Alas, I couldn't begin to tell you waht it looks like now. I'm assuming Gedd didn't play with it *at* *all* (no resizing or anything), but I don't know that.

I might be able to touch it up though.

I went ahead and tweaked the icon a bit. It may take some refreshing/cache clearing to get the new version to show up though.

As for resizing, I did stretch it from 14x14 to 16x16, which is the desired size for the favicon file. I might switch it back tomorrow and just fill out the extra space with white. The browsers may be stretching it a bit on their own though.

I'll note that the stretching did not cause the hawk to turn into the frown, it was in the source man!

Ok, and in an odd bit of unrelated news, the icon is now appearing on my tabs in Firefox. I bet it goes away again though.

It shows up for me (IE at work) in the favorites list - but only after I deleted the forums from the list then re-added it.

Almost hated to touch it, but I wanted to work the transparency in.

I've also returned the icon to its original size.

Cool, I deleted and re-added yet again and now it shows up in the address bar. Some of the time (it's not there in there while I'm typing this response).

Doesn't appear in Firefox for me, maybe because I haven't taken the time yet to upgrade from 0.9.3 to the 1.0 release. I should do that.
