Post by Eduardo X »

Yup, it seems that 20 years on, this horrible man was finally killed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veerappan That is probably one of my favorite stories I found on the BBC since I stopped reading US media. It is a strange tale of Indian police failing to capture this most notorious criminal, perhaps in the world.
Now he's dead, and I'm sure they'll make a movie about it.
And check out that 'stache!

Yeah, this was pretty interesting, heard about on NPR, they called him the Indian "Al Capone". Apparently there were 720 police involved in the operation - they are all getting a cash reward, a housing lot, and an accelerated promotion.

I hear he was scheduled to play the lead role in "Usual Suspects 2: The Erotic Adventures of Keyser Soze".

He was a poacher...good riddance, I am glad he is dead.
For motivation and so Jeff V can make me look bad:
2010 Totals: Biking: 65 miles Running: 393 miles
2009 Finals: Biking: 93 miles Running: 158 miles (I know it sucked, but I had a hernia most of the year)

Poacher can mean many things, but HE KILLED ELEPHANTS! How horrible is that?
Still a fascinating story.

Not quite as horrible as him strangling his infant daughter so the law wouldn't be alerted by her cries.

What a horrible, horrible man.

Yeah, that kinda' negates any Robinhood'esque comparisons in my book.

That'll change if you ever have kids. There's nothing so innocent, so helpless, so utterly dependent on your good will and kindness, as a baby.

Killing an animal for it's tusks is evil. I think it is pretty horrible.

EdX I will never understand how you can hate American politicans but you love these outlaw anarchists who don't even try to hide the numerous bad things they do. Your logic baffles me. I mean you were happy Reagan was dead yet you respect a guy like this?

I simply said it was a fascinating story! I was sure not many people would have known about him, but as far as criminals go, this guy was pretty world famous. He controlled a 6,000 square mile forest. He had kidnapped movie stars for no reason. He had elluded capture for 20 years! All this amounts to taking a second to read about it and saying "wow, that's a crazy story!"
I would say the same about Reagan! Hated the guy, want everybody in the world to know his story, and I read (a bit) about him before he was a politician, how he started touring as an anti-communist speaker years before he wanted to run for office.
When I say this guy was my favorite bandit, it was kind of a joke because, well, how many bandits are there in the world that I could name? Escobar is dead, bin Ladin wants me dead, and the old West never exsisted.

As long as you realize that I don't respect this guy, it is no problem.
