FYI, Isgrimnur, Chaosraven hamstrung Riddler by not allowing him to scan for "normals." He clarified this in the JLA Villains forum.coopasonic wrote:The only scanners we had were Riddler and the first night converted Dr GrundbeFate. Neither of them lived long enough. If we hadn't converted Dr Fate his life would have been even shorter as he scanned Lagom/Killer Croc on the first night. *nomnomnom*tru1cy wrote:Why wasn't I scanned? Now that the game is over, Isgrimnur, please tell us how Riddler's "scan" could be useful. Something you said about a million pages ago.

My play was very sub-par compared to other games and I wish to apologize for putting the villains in a horrible position early on. Of course, bb2112 and his ridiculously perfect scan didn't help.

Heh. With 16 Players, we had 3 Villains and 6 Heroes.
When I added Unagi and rolled HERO, then HAWKMAN, I pulled El Guapo from the Normal.
That put us at 17, with 3 Villains and 8 Heroes.
The Villains had 6 Normals to hide among, and a Conversion (which generated the MOST Paranoia I have EVER seen in one of these games, on the offchance that Joker was even in the Game)
Players:
purge - green lantern, remus west - green arrow, unagi - hawkman, el guapo - hawkwoman, newcastle/triggercut - superman, tru1cy - atom, grundbegriff - dr fate, bb2112 - wonder woman
villains:
coopasonic - joker, lagom lite - killer croc, theohall - riddler, grundbegriff - harley quinn

Theo's first question should have been "Is Tru1cy The Atom?" That would have been enough proof (on the day Theo died) to disable that power.
On the flip side, we didn't need to night kill him. We never ran out of "trusteds" to kill. It didn't make any difference in the end.coopasonic wrote:Quickly before we lynch you. I don't remember the "hero" portion of it. If that weren't there, as Riddler, I'd be asking if players were citizens and keep going until I hit a special. But as they appear now, that's not a viable option, so...Riddler - When DAY starts, the Riddler may send a Question to the Mod in the form of "Is X Y" where X is a Player and Y is a Hero Role". If the answer is Yes, the Riddler may ask again. This continues until the Riddler gets a No answer. Riddler receives the Role of any Hero killed by any Means

Yeah, that version of Riddler's power would be over-powered, since it would basically amount to "find one good special person per day". But yeah, aside from knowing all sorts of wacky riddles I suppose Riddler's current version is underpowered.
Nice being one of Mr. and Mrs. Hawk (for one, it was good to know with mostly certainty (aside from conversion risk) that a specific other person was good). Though the game-ending SuperHarley scenario was a bit annoying as it kind of gimped the shooters; it became basically impossible to use up the shots unless and until Joker was definitively dead or not in the game.

Re: OOWW: JLA ... GAME OVER!
Riddler being an instant Coroner was his biggest advantage IMO. He was going to be told the role of any Hero that died for any reason and if someone died and he wasn't told anything then they knew it was a Normal. I think the error Evil made was using the conversion night 1. Saving that ability until later just makes sense to me given that WonderWoman could not rescan anyone and thus if they converted someone she had previously scanned there would be no way for her to check on it. Down side to that would have been that, given his scan target, Grund would have been able to mental blast someone with the information that LL was the Croc. Up side to that is there was a slim chance he mental blasted one of them with the information.

Yeah I hated the fact is seemed everyone was powered, and that we had no idea how many villains were starting in the game..
I wanted to have the Count from Sesame Street power so I could count how many heroes and villains there were. <sigh>
But at least we got them all...Yea Team good.

As far as over powered roles though, Superman had to be up there on the chart. Unlynchable and got two scans out of being lynched to boot.

In it's current form, the riddle has to name player X and specific role Y. I still say that the question ability of the Riddler is an add on and thus doesn't need to be tweaked. If he gets a question correct then it is a bonus but the role he plays in allowing them to know the truth of any death is much more powerful than a regular coroner.

Yeah, forgot about that.
I'd pre-determined that my saying it didn't "prove" it to the badguys, that they'd need their own scan--or a conversion of a player who'd done the scan previously--to have the proof of his Atom-ness to kill him on the first shot.
Mea culpa!
